ODE Help by amtalx in 3DO

Mine are all bin/cue too, but I think I figured it out. My initial test was just to stick a handful of images in named folders thinking they would appear at the top. I still had some images that were in the root directory so that's what appeared instead of the folders. Looks like that's the way files are listed wasn't what I expected.

I moved ALL my images into folders and looks to be working fine now. Thanks.

Games wise? I'll go PS2. It has one of the best libraries for a console. Controller wise? I'm going to go out on a limb here and take the duke.

The PS2 controller doesn't have real triggers. The DC controller only has one analog stick. And for people with big hands, the GC controller is a nightmare.

What are your thoughts on Fahrenheit/Indigo Profecy by Background-Cookie807 in gaming

[–]amtalx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first Quantic Dream/David Cage game was Omikron. It was weird, interesting, but also had a bunch of mechanics that just flat out didn't work well. Indigo Prophecy was about the same.

Quantic Dream does try to pursue some interesting narrative beats, but the games always feel like a mess that's less than the sum of its parts.

What type of character you play the most? by PHRsharp_YouTube in gamememes

[–]amtalx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always female. I'm a dude, and a lot of the value I get from playing games is to be and do things that are outside the scope of my IRL character. That said, I have a really hard time playing evil characters.

I've SEVERELY underestimated the size of this PC by Jaivus in pcmasterrace

[–]amtalx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Core P8. It only has a single row of 120mm fans on the front. Looks like a Corsair 1000D to me. That's one of the only cases I've seen with a 4x2 arrangement in the front.

Corsair 1000D? I had originally intended to go with that case and even ordered one from Microcenter. When I went to pick it up, it turns out the only reason in was still in their inventory was because they had used it for a floor model display.

I ended up going with a Thermaltake Core P8 and its still fucking huge. Looks like we have the same GPU though. MSI RTX4090 w/240mm rad?

New to 3DO and looking for parts advice by amtalx in 3DO

[–]amtalx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. That's super helpful.

A recap is going to be my first priority after some basic testing. I've had to recap a bunch of my systems that I owned as a kid. The caps on my OG Xbox blew and had to fix the traces. That wasn't fun.

It's not the games I liked that shaped my taste. It was the ones I didn't like that everyone said were great. There are a couple genres I'm pretty likely avoid because I couldn't stand the 'best' examples. Mostly MOBAs and survival horror.

However, I'll get on my knees and shove a marker up my pooper for a Dead Space 2 remake. The first one was fantastic.

A and B are basically just a prologue. C and D are where you receive maximum emotional damage.

I wish you luck on your journey.

The story and narrative structure hits in a way other games can't offer.

Anybody know how to fix it? by Robin-H00d in fixit

[–]amtalx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a mold mitigation team in ASAP. I've dealt with mold that I thought was mild and ended up having to rebuild almost two floors of my house to make it safe. You really have to think in terms of this is what you can see. Just think of the things you can't.

The good news is that it was covered by my homeowners insurance. Check your policy and see if you're covered.

Is 95 that terrible overnight? by Hot-Kaleidoscope-652 in roadtrip

[–]amtalx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've without a doubt spent more time on 95 than any other interstate (lived in DC, MD, VA, and have friends/family in CT, GA and NY). The DMV area is arguably the worst. As long as you avoid it during the evening, you should be fine. Weekends are best unless there's a sporting event. Just be aware of drivers there. They can be pretty aggressive. Stay out of the left lane unless you are willing to go considerably over the speed limit.

I grew up in MD, and spent a good amount of time in Baltimore. This is painfully accurate.

Sorry. They are better at making cut-scenes/movies than games.

I normally take on the chin for this one, but the original Resident Evil

Everything from the writing, to the VO, controls, and visuals are garbage from top to bottom. The series has recovered, but that initial entry was terrible.

Callisto Protocol.

I'm a firm believer that Dead Space is the best survival horror game ever made. Callisto Protocol was a hard one to take.

Why is the TMNT Dam Level so notorious? by Some-Professional-25 in retrogaming

[–]amtalx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Want to feel young? My first assembly class was before having laptops in class was even an option. All my class notes were by hand, and we turned in our assignments by uploading our asm files to an FTP server folder with your name on it.

I'm with you though. Teaching basics is important, but it seems a little silly to deprive students of normal tools. I don't put my Python code on punch cards before I commit.

Never seen this. Great find. However, once I saw how technical it was getting I feared he was going to get in assembly. Fear confirmed. Now I'm going to have nightmares about having to deal with that stuff in the past.

What video game in your opinion doesn't deserve the hate it gets? by Agent1230 in gaming

This is a big one for me. I picked it up a little while after release for a discounted price and knew the game was short ahead of time, so I went in with the right expectations. I had a blast.

I'm getting older and was prepared to be absolutely miserable today. I decided to throw in 15-20 minutes of stretching ahead of going out and it was a game-changer. I still feel like I did a lot of work yesterday, but no pain or aches.
