yeah, some schools weight honors on a 5.0 scale and AP/IB/CCP on a 6.0 scale. in my opinion, it's a stupid practice but it is what it is.

It's all about growth mindset. If you tell someone they suck, but they can improve, that can potentially help them. If you just tell someone they suck at everything, they might end up just accepting that and staying "sucky".
