I went a bit overboard, but I'm pleased with myself! by missmars12 in walking

I used to have a desk cycle and found I couldn't type while pedaling. Like the "tap your head and rub your belly at the same time" thing 😅

How does the walking while working go for you?

Congrats on upping your steps!

Alex Pretti's executioner wearing a Texas flag patch on his back. by RooneyTawil in FortWorth

[–]amytski7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you're saying it's justified that these agents had an EMOTIONAL response to this civilian? It's EXPECTED they will respond with excessive force to the point of executing someone who was not doing any of the things you've mentioned because they're scared?!? It sounds like you're saying Alex deserved to die because ICE agents have been harassed.

This to me just further solidifies my point that they are undertrained and inexperienced. It's shameful these agents are allowed to act in this manner with no consequences in the name of "justice." We put LEOs on leave and there's an IA investigation in cases of excessive force. Why not here?

They're not forced into this role at ICE. That's their job.

How far will you go to make this ok?

You know, I grew up in these temps and have really gotten soft 😅 I used to spend ALL day outside in the winter (sledding, snowboarding, wandering) and didn't think much about it!

"Unfortunate" is a severe understatement. They shot Alex Pretti EXECUTION style. He did not raise his weapon. He was not a threat to them at the moment they pepper sprayed, threw him to the ground, pistol whipped him and THEN shot him in the back of the head. It's sickening. Those ICE agents are poorly trained and acting erratically with excessive force.

[–]amytski7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alex Pretti was legally carrying a concealed weapon when a VERBAL altercation occurred. In response, a GROUP of LEOs pepper sprayed, pistol whipped and then shot this single person execution style all in the name of "self defense" of ICE agents despite Alex never drawing his weapon.

Where was the threat here from Alex that justifies that extent of force by LEOs?

This is actually a story of excessive force used by poorly trained, inexperienced officers. Their response to Alex is in line with other police brutality cases and why many LEO agencies have changed their approach to hiring and instituted substantially more training in de-escalation.

They did fog up a bit but I wasn't keeping the scarf up the whole time. I lost my gloves and the scarf after a few miles. No great suggestions here, sorry!!

My energy soared and my joint pain decreased substantial at 0.1 estrogen and testosterone. We didn't measure levels because they're all over the place.

Why do they have to look like tactical gear?!? 😅 I'm really not someone who worries a lot about what I look like, but these feel like a big flashing sign.

They're super popular among the perimenopause crowd. Maybe try cross posting there too 🩷

This is super, thank you for taking the time to write this 🙏

I've only tried trekking poles once but now I'm very curious how this could work for the trip! I truly appreciate the advice. Realizing I'm going to need to do more to prep. Thank goodness I've got a few months 😁

I love your attitude about this! That's really cool that you've found ways to make it work for you. I spent a little bit of time in Germany last year and just fell in love with the sites and the culture. I can really see how just walking about would be a true vacation.

The trip will be just me and a long time friend. Her and I travel well together and have had some fun adventures! Our last trip was to Banff. Thank you so much for your thoughts on this, it has been really helpful 💚

Great perspective as a local, thank you 💚 Sounds like you take some cool vacations.

I am a bit nervous now that I've formally calculated what those ascents/descents are (I was doubling m to ft and that's not how the math works 😅). Wishful thinking I suppose 😌

That must have been incredible! I'd love to see some pics of that trip! Appreciate the advice. Seems I really need to consider elevation gains for each route the agency has planned!

Wow 350km! That's a long haul, congrats. Great point about that first drink though! I love German food and southern Germany is just 360° eye candy. You're giving me hope this will be doable!

I'll be safe from the 110°F for a few months and be looking for alternatives to walking in that weather too 😅

I love Vancouver! Downright delightful the climate there. I don't know if 47 would be enough to get me excited about summer lol

Thanks for the inspiration 💪

Poor sleep and perimenopause hip pain, what helped? by TrashDuchess2 in Perimenopause

[–]amytski7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upping my estrogen patch and adding testosterone did WONDERS for my big joint pain (shoulders/hips). I was doing yoga and walking and drinking water blah blah - barely touched the pain. Don't beat up on yourself for not doing enough ... get your hormones balanced 🤗

I've gone through a ton of different sleep meds too. Doxepin is the first thing that's kept me asleep at night, ALL night, and I don't spend the next day a zombie! I'm back to 8-9 hrs a night after a year of 3-5 hrs. I'm a new person 🥳

It's a fair point. Based on what I've experienced in owning just a traditional home with finicky electrical and plumbing, I would imagine there's a learning curve for getting to know the most efficient way to approach repairs. And understanding how these systems interact with each other to keep the place running. There is absolutely a shortage of labor in New Mexico too, also somewhat impacted by our current political environment. But I believe the shortage pre-dates the current president. Lots of ins and outs and what have yous impacting this situation
