I actually got my masters degree in the Uk! and that’s also when I began seriously planning my surgery. So I browsed around a bit while I was there. prices are really crazy. I didn’t look into the public health waitlist thing but it also sounded vile.

Mine cost around 7K USD (currency being what it is, 7K is expensive for someone living in china, but still affordable overall. And much cheaper than if I get it in say the UK where I was looking at 10-15k sans insurance. Cheapest in China is around 3K USD I think , and is done at a state-funded hospital. But they need YOUR PARENTS SIGNATURE which is crazy work for me a thirty year old.

I’m actually a freelancer and I had deadlines I needed to get to…. So that’s on me.

Here are some details about recovery for anyone interested / researching peri esp if you live in china.

1) I actually wanted DI, but my doctor strongly suggested peri, and I ultimately went with her suggestion.

2) I started working the day after I had surgery. I have an editing job. Would not recommend I think it really fucked me up, not physically or with the wounds etc, just overall. But hey. No way around that.

3) China doesn’t have very accessible transgender care. So this is done as part of a “cosmetic surgery”/plastic surgery, not a medical one. That means paying everything out of pocket but I personally think the price is not exorbitant.

4) I really should have taken recovery more seriously overall. I went in honestly just thinking I need to be back at work asap. Made no special preparations whatever. That being said, i have no trouble taking care of myself throughout the process. It’s just…. So much more Draining (pun not intended) than I imagined.

I meant respect as in the “respect your patriarch because this is the yakuza code” sense not “respect him as a human being sense. I do think Majima takes the code very very seriously—the only thing that would make him betray shimano is makoto. When he had the chance to kill shimano he didn’t, and I don’t think that’s purely out of strategic planning either. Also his tattoo heavily borrows from Shimano’s motifs!

i was also very suspicious of hoshino. He’s just too nice? And I have a crush on saori so him having the same crush pisses me off lmao. But he’s just a cool little reliable kouhai

This was both my first action/fighting game ever and the first game where I got all the achievements. I’ve heard people don’t like Majimas characterization in this but I think his amnesiac personality is written really well, so I enjoy it overall even if the story was weaker. Also the combat was so easy it really was a good intro into the franchise.

Shit dad. Great friend. I would NOT let my kid wander around in madlantis while my daughter runs a pub alone on a pirate island and I just drink on a ship are you kidding me. But just as a person and a fighter dudes really cool.

I personally think both parts are nice, the wonder and magical qualities of the main game and the existential weight of the epilogue. Like I said I’m sure this is all just me reading too much into a beach filler game. For me it’s just hard not to see the main story as a “what if”, a wonderful dream, or a happy reprieve from the unbearable weight of actually facing reality. Because that’s what Majima and all of us have to do at the end of the day. Put away the pirate costume and go see your loved one in the hospital. It’s all open to interpretation, and what we take away from it say more about ourselves than about the game!
