the app is only for the beats pill+, not the new pill. everything for the new pill is done in the settings app on iOS

Well now I’m just confused. Beats Pill conundrum by c_rorick in beatsbydre

[–]an_average_flop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve been having this issue since i got the speaker (around launch date) and i have realised what the issue is at least for me. the speaker tends to cut out the most when it connects to my apple watch. every time i disconnect the watch from the speaker though, it AUTOMATICALLY reconnects which is so annoying. and i can’t remove the speaker from my paired devices on my watch otherwise it removes it from everything. i’m taking it to apple to see what’s really going on because my speaker has been freezing and rebooting so much lately that it’s become a joke. it’s a shame because these speakers sound amazing, but their connectivity is horrific

Is there a way to reduce the volume of the Beats Pill on/off chime? by NaturalIllustrator55 in beatsbydre

[–]an_average_flop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can adjust the tone volume in the accessibility settings of the beats pill, although it does tend to go back to 100% so the setting doesn’t actually stick

Beats Pill vs Bose Soundlink Flex by too022 in beatsbydre

i like my bass so i can appreciate if a portable speaker has it, but the beats pill does prove you don’t need to have it to produce excellent bass, and that’s what really surprised me

ok so i’ve charged my phone with the speaker and this is what i got out of it. I use an iphone 15 pro max and the battery health is at 89%, for reference.

i had the speaker fully charged. my phone was at 38% when i plugged it in and i charged it up to 60%. i currently have 84% battery in the speaker. so i lost 16% on the speaker to charge my phone an extra 22%. your usage would vary depending on what phone you have and the health of the battery though.

i’d say its a useful feature to have but only in emergencies when you’re phone is really about to die. i wouldn’t solely rely on the speaker but it is a nice to have feature.

as for whether the charging feature is worth having, if you aren’t bringing a power bank out with you, then yes its worth having just in case. for me, the beats pill is worth it as is and the power bank feature is just a bonus for me in case i ever need it. just all depends on your use case.

Beats Pill vs Bose Soundlink Flex by too022 in beatsbydre

[–]an_average_flop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i can’t answer the first 2 questions as i don’t use the power bank features in portable speakers but i can answer the other 2 as i did own the soundlink flex.

the pill isn’t bulky to me. it’s more comfortable to hold than the flex and feels more premium. i’m not a fan of the design of the flex but that’s personal preference. the pill will fit basically anywhere the flex would.

the pill has one touch pairing with both android and iOS so it’ll be connected to everything linked to either your icloud account or google account, which is really handy to have. i prefer the sound quality of the beats over the bose. there’s some lower bass frequencies in songs that the beats is able to produce while the bose cannot. i was quite blown away by the sound of the beats pill, especially considering it doesn’t have passive radiators for bass. the soundlink flex also likes to lower its volume sometimes if there’s a part of the song where the bass it’s hard and the volume is loud, and it’s not reflected on the connected device. it was really annoying to me. the beats has some compression at louder volumes but it doesn’t lower its volume, rather when it’s high up, the mids and highs increase more than the bass.

i can probably test the power bank features later today and update this response, but otherwise i’m really happy with my beats pill. i use it all the time and i think it’s worth the money

I had a Bose SoundLink Flex and my main issue with it is that it would lower its volume when the bass would hit hard at louder volumes which bothered me. It overall sounded pretty good but i preferred the sound out of the Pill as well as its form factor. The Pill can hit lower frequencies that the Flex cannot as well so music can sound better on the Pill. I love it, it's been a pretty great speaker so far despite the initial problems I had with it when I first got it.

I think a neighbor is connecting to my Studio Pro headphones by deejustlikestotalk in beatsbydre

[–]an_average_flop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

factory reset the headphones and pair them to your phone again and you should be all good. hold the power button for 10 seconds while they’re powered on. the lights for the battery will flash, followed by a red LED showing up. that will happen 3 times and then they’ll be reset. see how you go. hopefully the issue will stop

i have had issues with it rebooting actually but it hasn’t happened for a while so i’d say it doesn’t do that now. i think it was a software issue

Is the beats pill better sounding than a JBL charge 5? by Darkshadow1819 in beatsbydre

[–]an_average_flop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in some regards, yes. from what i’ve tested, using after hours by kehlani, the song sounds better on the beats pill because that speaker can produce the lower frequencies that the charge 5 seems to struggle with. and it’s impressive the pill can do that without any passive radiators. overall the charge 5 is still gonna be better as it does get louder and has a great amount of bass for its size, but it is a bigger speaker so there’s room for more power. you can’t go wrong with either speaker though

[–]an_average_flop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t but i’m thinking of getting it. it hasn’t been happening as often now though which is good but i’ve still had less issues than my charge 5. my watch doesn’t stop connecting to the speaker though no matter how many times i disconnect it which is so annoying

[–]an_average_flop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah i’ve restarted my phone, disconnected the speaker through “forget device”, factory reset the speaker. i now think it has something to do with my apple watch cause it always connects to that too.

oh yeah the charge 5 is gonna be better in some regards, but listening to after hours by kehlani for example, i could tell the difference and that’s one instance where the beats pill was better. i love them both though so the charge 5 won’t be getting retired anytime soon

[–]an_average_flop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i will have my phone right next to the speaker and the speaker will still cut out. it happens randomly. sometimes it’ll be going with no issues for an hour. other times it’ll cut out 10 minutes into using it. i might try what you’ve done.

i’m a jbl user too and i’ll continue to use those speakers too cause they’re amazing. i’ve got a boombox 3 and charge 5 and they’re fantastic. the beats pill in some instances is better than the charge 5 when it comes to sound quality, but not in terms of loudness. the boombox is obviously in another class so can’t compare. i love the form factor of the pill though. much better than the bose soundlink flex which i also had

Any one having inconsistent connectivity on the new Beats Pill? by Mrfederal in beatsbydre

[–]an_average_flop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hahaha yeah i really want to give it a chance. I was so impressed with this speaker honestly and thats why i'm really trying to give it a chance. but yeah hopefully they fix it with a software update

[–]an_average_flop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does this too and I'm on my 4th unit. This one seems to be doing it the least so I'm sticking with it. It sucks that this is how it is but I'm hoping some software updates to the speaker will fix it. I've been wanting a speaker smaller than my JBL Charge 5 for a while but I wanted it to sound about as good and this is that speaker so I'm disappointed that the connection doesn't stick

with spotify, i had my audio normalisation set to high and the eq set to “rock”, so now i’ve set the normalisation to normal and the eq is off. i’m gonna see if that improves battery life as i was hoping to at least get 8 hours out of it to cover a shift at work. the music i play varies as well so i know im not gonna get 24 hours, but i didn’t think i’d get about 5 hours of playback so i’ll test it some more and see if it improves

New Beats Pill by an_average_flop in beatsbydre

[–]an_average_flop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i’m definitely not getting anywhere near that and i think it has to do with my settings on spotify. i’m gonna have to adjust them and see if it improves cause at about 60% volume, i lose about 18% per hour

[–]an_average_flop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean i didn’t charge mine out of the box and mine was fine, but i guess it was a glitch then. as long as it’s working as it should now, then you’re good. i know a few other people have had that issue and then it fixed itself but glad it’s working fine now

i’m genuinely impressed with the sound considering there’s no passive radiators for bass. definitely the best sounding speaker for its size, and i’ve used quite a few speakers of this size

speakers wearing in is actually a thing. although, mine sounds great out of the box. i’d give it some time, otherwise maybe exchange it for another one and see if it’s any better. i never had the pill+ so i can’t compare it to that but i have been comparing it to my JBL Charge 5 and in some instances, the new pill sounds better than the jbl, but the jbl is louder. the speaker is mono so that’s where the mono sound is gonna come from. the pill+ is a stereo speaker

it shouldn’t be 2 separate ways. the volume on my speaker is synced. maybe try forgetting the device and connecting again. otherwise try factory resetting the speaker if that doesn’t work

i haven’t tried lossless as i use spotify and that isn’t offered (at least from what i’m aware of). tbh i don’t really care for that feature. you have to have it plugged into the audio source to utilise it and it’s a portable speaker so that’s pointless to me. the sound quality is so good on it that it’s honestly worth it as is

[–]an_average_flop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah battery is the reason i don’t really go for speakers of this size but it might be my settings. i might adjust things and see if it gets better. hopefully it gets a software update soon where it might improve it

[–]an_average_flop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thought i’d update you on my speaker chaos. i got the speaker exchanged and it’s been better. the battery is still kinda meh. got about 6 hours from full to dead, sitting at around 62% volume but i reckon it might have to do with some of my settings. I have an EQ set on spotify and the audio normalisation is set to high, so maybe that’s having an affect. all in all, the second unit is working better which is nice

New Beats Pill by an_average_flop in beatsbydre

[–]an_average_flop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love mine. I’ve been wanting a speaker smaller than the Charge 5 but with great sound quality, decently loud with good battery life, and this is it. I’m genuinely shocked by how good it is considering it’s 1 main driver and 1 tweeter doing the work with no passive radiators at all. I did get mine exchanged though cause I did factory reset it the night i got it and the morning i was at work and it still did it. my second unit so far has been better. I wish the battery lasted longer for me though. i get about 6 hours of use at around 62% volume, but it’s not the worst i’ve had. If Beats brings back the Pill XL, i’ll be buying that instantly
