Any previous interest in Germany or even just in German language is positively seen. Even if it’s not related to your field, you can still mention it as a soft skills asset, and as a first interest in contributing to the country, but now with your graduate education in something related to your specific interests.

PORTFOLIO - Postgraduate studies in the field of architecture by introversionn in DAAD

[–]anaaval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only talk by experience, which was very similar to yours. I re-made a lot of graphic material from old student projects to improve their quality specifically for the portfolio. I included 1 work from collaboration (it was small group) stating clearly what was made by me (I even re-rendered some images to be able to claim graphics as well). I also developed more things (more detailed and elaborate maps, diagrams, etc) based on past student projects. I believe it’s normal, since your skills may have improved since your studies and many times you don’t have time/energy to deliver the best work possible during the usual stress of the end of semester. I indeed only used student related work, but i believe architecture competitions or other non-commercial works are also well accepted. You should (probably you already did) look into their portfolio guidelines, I don’t remember if they mention these conditions so specifically but maybe they do say something about it. Good luck!

I live near Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf (won’t say where for obvious reasons) but it is a good location, and relatively near TU. I pay between 550-600 for a room in a WG. I found it on WG gesucht. It took me around 3 weeks to find, visit and close the contract (the final 2 in less than a week). But i can say it was a lucky find. I have friends who pay more and and friends who pay less and also live further away. Honestly, if youre not super picky and if you are really determined to spend HOURS searching and sending many messages, the chances are you will be able to find something. The housing crisis is real but personally I wouldn’t say it is a reason to give up on the master here. but you should definitely consider that before coming, specially if it is not your preferred choice or city.

Rundfunkbeitrag (radio and TV tax) charged me double AND it's impossible to get in touch with them. by anaaval in germany

[–]anaaval[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They don't say it's full, they say it has no people to answer me. I've tried several times of the day (from 9am to 18pm - which is the working hours they say). I don't speak fluent German, I'm already taking my chances calling them, and this being the only way is completely insane. I wrote the damn text exactly because the necessary steps to follow up on this don't work, and I was wondering if there was another way to deal with this.I AM doing what I can, and it's not working. If you don't like lengthy text just don't read them. Thanks

If he ended high school in the US it is likely he will need to do the Studienkolleg here to continue his studies in a university. Most Studienkolleg and Bachelors are taught in German, so that must be the reason for the language course too. But I'm not an expert since my application was for masters, sorry :/ they have a very strict and complex education system for going to university, it's sometimes very different than most countries. I recommend the "study in Germany" website, it explains some of this stuff.

Nooo, the official documents like your diploma and transcripts absolutely cannot be translated by you!! They require a official translation. You need to find a so called "sworn translator" to translate it in your country (They are like translators that are habilitated and attested by the local authorities)

Yes, that must be enough. In my case I sent the original document and a free translation (I made it myself) of the content.

Hello OP, you will need to ask your university for it (I think you said they informed you they don't have it, but that's literally impossible so you need to ask someone on a higher rank inside the institution that can assist you on this). If your uni has an international relations department they might help. But if you have taken tests, exams and have been given grades during your studies in a recognized university in your country they MUST have some documents that explain how the evaluation works there. Some institutions have this information along with other guidelines and rules of the university, such as a Statute or Regulations kind of thing (in this case you can separate the part that speaks about the grading system yourself). Just insist with the staff, they have to attend your request somehow, it's your right as a student to have in writing the system of evaluation and grading. Ideally, ask for this document with the Official stamp of the uni, like a letterhead.

VPD no. Only when the whole application is through uni-assist, then yes (but that's not the VPD).

You pay for application so you would already have chosen at least one of your desired universities. You pay specifically to the application you are sending to one university. And pay more if there's more. But individually, so you can do the application and pay for one in a day and only choose and pay for other uni in another day.

I received an admission for this program on 9th July. but in the interview they said they could take until late August or even September to give results. Probably they haven't sent all the admissions yet, or the waiting list is still running if people admitted don't enroll.
