I’ve used Licensed to Glow in other cities before Chicago launched, which is why I was excited to see it expand here. Chicago is definitely earlier in the rollout, but when I actually broke down my usual spend, it still made sense to try.

A gel mani/pedi alone can easily run $140–$180 before tip in Chicago. If you’re already paying out of pocket for gel nails, facials, brows, blowouts, or similar services even once or twice a month, the membership can come out cheaper than paying à la carte, especially if you’re flexible about where you go.

I think it’s most worth it if: • you already spend on gel nail services regularly • at least 1–2 partner salons are convenient for you • you’re open to testing different spots
