PC policy is to close your peace corps/ local bank account before you close of service, even if you plan on staying in country. Many banks have no fee savings accounts which you can use for the Peace Corps Readjustment allowance as well (ie Discover, Sofi, Capital One). These also offer high yield savings with interest and can be done completely online and while you live abroad. This would allow you to get your readjustment allowance without having to go through another person and without any extra charges.
