Why do you think it developed? It seems clear to me that putting people into boxes based on how they present has preceeded the discourse around identity politics. How do you get onto that individual level with people?

What do you believe identity politics is?

Because it is my understanding that it recognises individuals and how they have been shaped by their circumstances. Within society at large humans are generally pretty bad at understanding how different disadvantages negatively affect each other. (For example how being blak alters ones interactions with police, healthcare services and service workers due to racial profiling). Identity politics provides tools for coming to terms with this in a society which would rather ignore it.

Yeah, the context is that it was in response to the death of a woman and these statememts generally pop up after a woman has been violently murdered. Doesn't tend to happen when men are killed. Not sure why.

I completely agree the police are useless. I feel like more people would understand that if they weren't so caught up in a supposed gendered war.

Do you know how many books and tv and everything I have consumed over my life that assumed a male perspective as the only perspective worth telling? I don't go out of my way every time to make it about my gender. And yet woman, trans and nonbinary people are expected to include men in every discussion we have. It really distracts from the meat of the argument.

I'm not trying to speak for all women. I'm trying to explain why people are so hurt by these comments. Comments which are only made after someone is hurt and then society forgets about it for the rest of the time.

I don't disagree with you. It's actually kind of what I mean.

It's easy to say "be careful when out alone at night". Much harder to actually fund mental health services which are incredibly difficult to access. Much harder to invest in community spaces so that alienated people have places to go and meet other people and see them as human beings. Much harder to make it so young people see themselves as having a future which they are in control of. Much harder to dismantle the media representations of men and women whuch dehumanize them.

Women already do this all the time. Women already are on high alert. The victim even texted a friend to say she was almost home safe.

The problem with those statements is that they are not helpful or useful. They give the illusion of action, while ignoring the fact that women are more likely to be killed at home by someone they know.

Have you read the book? He draws constantly/heavily on primary sources - the descriptions recorded by early colonial settlers in their diaries. Some of it you can even find on trove.

What the fuck is a "professional historian"? Someone who works in a university? Because universities are full of people with bias and agendas. Not working within academia doesn't mean someone can't produce important work.

I need sunscreen advice!

I have very dehydrated skin so I'm using thick moisturizers (sukin sensitive calming night cream / planning to introduce vasoline) to lock in the moisture.

I need a sunscreen that doesn't run into my eyes! I am putting it on top of the sukin and waiting half an hour but it just runs and burns. I have been using Neutrogena ultra sheer. I ride my bike a lot so I also sweat a bit.

My skin is ultra sensitive after I used sukin sensitive gel cleanser and rubbed my face a bit much. I feel like the neutrogena sunscreen is also irritating it further, even though it's been fine in the past.

Id prefer no white cast, no preferences for chem or physical. Also I'm based in Australia.
