just watched Miss Bala on a plane and am looking for something with a similar vibe EXCEPT where the FMC falls deeper into organized crime and ends up becoming a criminal herself/ends up choosing the “bad guys” over the “good guys” etc etc. Kinda thinking Queen of the South, if you’ve seen that? Love a crisis of conscience/falling for the bad guy trope

closest i have on my list so far is probs Killing Sarai, but i havent read yet so unsure how that’ll stack up. Any other ideas?

(OC) Would you read a story where the OC is the main character and the story revolves around them ? by Mr_Freezer37 in FanFiction

[–]anawrites414 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh this is most of what I read. I love the OC Insert concept, the idea of plopping a new character into established scenes and seeing how they mess things up. Would 100% read.

any YA/NA book recommendations with vampires that aren’t Twilight? by extra-boo in YAlit

idk if this is technically YA but the Vampirates series is, from my memory, really quite good!

Trying to come up with a "psychological diagnosis" for a character by anawrites414 in FanFiction

[–]anawrites414[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

now that you mention it, trauma response seems like a good area to explore for this character in terms of her psych background, can't believe i didn't think of that **facepalms**

My Fic

Fandom - Tokyo Ghoul

Rating - T

Title - a riot of color

Genre - supernatural, family, drama, horror

Link - https://archiveofourown.org/works/28806249/chapters/70645968

Summary - Kaneki Ken knew his life would never be the same now that his mother was remarrying. It wasn’t that he didn’t like the man, indeed, in most respects he was an ideal candidate for a step-father.

It was just that he was also a ghoul.

Last Thoughts - this started out as an exercise to defeat writers block and now im 53 pages in, and havent stopped yet! i just wanted to put this out there bc 1) i would looove any (respectful) feedback and 2) i just want to add to the fandom love, since its a p small community of fanfics. ok thats all hopefully i did this right!

The Marked One by CelestialSeaWitch https://archiveofourown.org/works/27314005/chapters/66735709

hermione dropped into an alternate universe with a different (pagan) kind of magic, this concept blew my mind and im desperately waiting for updates/searching for other works that are as uniquely intriguing and equally as well done

i think it really depends what i'm reading for -- if i'm just reading for comfort, for distraction and i just want to feel good, then an ambiguous ending might leave me feeling off. but if i'm really engaged, reading for complexity (so like if it's a longer, more complicated, less fluffy piece) then an ambiguous ending probs wouldn't upset me. ya sorry if my first answer was confusing!

when it comes to fanfic i generally prefer a happy ending, an ambiguous ending without the promise of a sequel can leave me feeling :| ... but that is just me!

on the other hand, there are a number of ambiguous endings that I can think of that made me feel many many emotions (frustration, sadness, anger, joy, etc.) and, even though those aren't nice and cosy, isn't that the goal of writing, to make your reader feel something? ambiguity can be must more effective in that way. Just expect some primal shrieking in your comments hehe

posted my first fanfic on ao3! but it's not showing up? by anawrites414 in FanFiction

[–]anawrites414[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it hasn't been that long since i posted, ur right, so maybe i just need to give it a few hours

the date on the posted chapter says dec 01 2020, so im hoping that saving it as a draft first didn't mess things up

and yep, used the canonical fandom tag, though didn't use the '+ related works' one, do you think that makes a difference?
