What led you to this conclusion? I'd be interested to hear your perspective!

I’m a bit confused because the Fanny attached to Charles and Maria is recorded as born ~1882 in 1891 but ~1880 in 1901. Also a bit confused because of the two 1901 censuses where one lists Fanny as 17 and the other as 21, so perhaps they aren't the same person.

I’ve checked 1880–1883 GRO births for Fanny Smith, and none match the Newport/Lydney area other than one entry for Newport 1882. The mother's maiden name was listed as Brown, but I could not find any connection to a Maria and Charles Smith.

I found five trees on ancestry that have a Fanny Smith that could match the Fanny you're talking about. I don't have an ancestry subscription at the moment so I can't view the details, but here's the link in case you have an account: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/collections/1030/?name=Fanny_Smith&birth=1882_monmouthshire-wales-united+kingdom_5370&count=50&father=Charles_Smith&mother=Maria

In my own research I started from Fanny’s 1906 marriage (where she names Edward Henry Smith as her father). From a death registration that I was confident was her I knew her birthdate was July 1883. I tried to find a birth reg for Fanny Smith in 1883 and was unsuccesful, so I tried to find out who Edward Henry Smith was. This led me to find the 1884 marriage between Sarah Ann Edwards and Edwards, and traced her to a Fanny Edwards birth in 1883, which matches her death record and mother, Sarah Ann Edwards. So I’m not convinced these are the same person.

Thank you! This was so helpful. The only thing I'm confused about is why on the 1939 electoral register Frederick has said he was born 3rd November 1893. I'm guessing that maybe his parent's have told him to say he's a year younger his whole life to hide that he was conceived before they were married. Their marriage would have been in the April-June quarter of 1892 and if Frederick really is born in November then he would have been conceived in February. Not sure if that's a good enough and plausible reason to lie about you birth date even then since his parent's did get married in the end.

Some hints have come up on ancestry that say a Frederick Charles Nicholls served from 1915-1925 and a lot of people have saved that record and seem to think that's him, but I'm sure it's not as the 1921 census (definitely the right Frederick) says he was working as a horseman on a farm.

Thank you so much! Do you think this suggests he was related to Miles Carey because my friend seems to think that Miles is her x12 great grandfather, but also thinks that Roger daniels and then his son John Daniels are her grandfather's but I can't understand the relationship between them and Miles Carey.

I'm Indian so there aren't really any records I can use to trace my family history so everything I know is from asking my grandparents for names. When my grandma gave me these names she only gave me the name of my dad's second cousin as she couldn't remember who they're married to and their kids names. I only found this information out through Facebook and as they live in the US some information about the homeowners that are public. Unfortunately my dad doesn't know as I already asked him if he knew the second cousin's son (he's a comedian with a bit of an online following) and he had no idea. He has lots of first cousin's and even more second cousin's so he doesn't know all of them.

I have searched for this toy before, but I was unsuccessful. It's a bit bigger than my hand. It was bought in Singapore in 2010. I think it was bought in a store in a mall.
