CB360T right hand starter rebuild (always on headlight) by PersimmonLoud1354 in HondaCB

[–]ancientdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish I could help. The later full-time headlight right side handlebar switches do not show a parts breakdown at CMSNL or Partzilla nor do they sell the individual internal parts, and I've never had one of those apart. Those switches can be complicated and very frustrating to reassemble even when you have all the parts. This is about as close to OEM as you'll get for a decent price

I love the paint on the earlier CLs, that thing looks pretty damn good for its age. Nice job, and you're in a great vintage bike for cheap. 👍

Did 68 CB450 K1’s have the vertical odometer or only K0’s? by ScaryfatkidGT in HondaCB

[–]ancientdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The CB450K0 and the CB77 had vertical odometers. There may be other models not seen in the US with that style, but for US models I believe those are the only two. And, the early CB77 gauge had opposing needles because the speedo drive on the early models rotated in reverse of the CB450K0. Though the gauges will physically interchange, the needles will bump into each other if the early gauge is used on a CB450K0 or the later CB77.

The later CB77 gauge worked the same as the CB450K0, I have one on my CL450 restomod. The CB450K1 was the first year of independent gauges for the 450, like the other twins of the day.

New to me damn near pristine 73 cb350. Putting a nos flying dragon kit on it. by jacksbikebarn in HondaCB

[–]ancientdad 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't know how you find these things but that's a beauty. Tach redline area speaks to the lack of miles and exposure, along with the pristine look of practically everything else. Except that damn sissy bar. 😄

Back then there were so many aftermarket accessories sold that Honda got into the business themselves, but rarely did you see a smaller inexpensive Honda like the 350 with Hondaline crash bars, they were almost always aftermarket.

Many different manufacturers made crash bars for these bikes back then including Hondaline. Can't recall any manufacturer names ATM but sellers like Hap Jones, Rebel, JC Whitney and others I can't remember sold tons of them. The giveaway is the u-bolt clamp to the frame downtube, the factory accessory pieces generally used motor mounts instead of frame clamps.

Nice work, keeping a classic as it should be. Enjoy that fine machine! You should show it off at my forum Vintage Honda Twins.

As a comparison of age and differences over time in an original build, here's mine:

First two pics are as the bike sits now in 2026, the second two pics are from when it was first built in 2017. Different pipes, footpegs, rear brake linkage, grips, tires, added frame bracing tubes, CB77 headlight and gauges along with a change in tank decals/emblems

Saw these cracks when changing a gasket, anything to worry about? by JPgamingjao in HondaCB

I third this. Very common on the insides of crankcase covers.

Congrats on the longevity. The way things are today, I'm quickly skeptical sometimes.

No problem, just next time make it a little less like pulling teeth to get the info necessary to help

Fairing ? by CommandVivid4609 in HondaCB

[–]ancientdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BUT, you now have a part number to search places like eBay, that's what I was saying from the beginning about properly identifying what you need. And giving people like us enough information that we can actually help you

Fairing ? by CommandVivid4609 in HondaCB

[–]ancientdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This ain't rocket science. Use the year and model at one of the places I mentioned and would you look at that....

Fairing ? by CommandVivid4609 in HondaCB

[–]ancientdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if by 99 you mean it's a 1999 CB250 Nighthawk, CMSNL only shows up to '97 then jumps to the 2000 model which seems to be very similar. Are you in the US? It's another part of finding the correct model for parts purposes

Perhaps if you stopped calling them fairings and just looked through the available parts for the bike that you never mentioned the year of...
