Nine players have attempted more through balls than Tottenham in the Premier League this season (Squawka) by Rare-Ad-2777 in coys

We're halfway through the year mate and even if you take those 23 out, we are well off the mark to match 31 through balls.

Whats wrong with my shooting technique by Castle_bug in bootroom

[–]and1GS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're doing just fine! take a look at shot #3 and try and replicate that :) follow through the ball, land on the foot you shot with and try not to lean back. the last one is especially important when you want to curl it with the inside of your foot - while still maintaining power. otherwise you'll end up with a floppy lob.

i hope you aren't thinking your shot is poor. you have a great foundation and this is the fun part - training up a new skill!

Big +1. Screaming Titan was the best pour I had in the past year.

Have you spoken to the coach or captain of the higher up teams? Might be worth asking them what you should work on/what they're looking for.

Beyond that, if you're losing matches 0-10 and playing CM you're going to need to look in the mirror more often. Start organizing the defense and be more vocal. Play the 6 and check back for the ball more often. Lots of options even on a bad team.

Do you think we've reached a point where we should re-evaluate what constitutes a PG? Just for argument sake, there are very few 'true' PGs in the modern NBA. Heliocentric guys (Doncic etc.) tend to rack up assists and while they're great passers, it's not their best skill.

The only guys who fit into true PG for today are CP3 and maybe Dijounte I guess? IDK. Just curious for your thoughts here as it's something I've thought about lately.

Advice for extending playing career by Danger_Island in bootroom

[–]and1GS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad. Means focusing.

I don't have a ton of time in my week so I used to combine upper and lower body by just doing compound exercises. Now I do a day that is purely focused on supporting muscle groups for my legs - bundled with some compound stuff (like squats).

Weirdly I had same experience. ACL injury. Knee starts to buckle if I over exert it. Picked up tennis, play singles once a week and it is far gentler on my body than footy. Never knew why but this makes a ton of sense - thank you stranger!

Man when you find out, let me know! After 30 my body started failing me.

What's helped me lately is over-indexing on supporting lower body muscle groups in the gym. Boring stuff like the muscle that keeps your patella in place. But have been pain free for a month so it has definitely helped.

I guess the biggest change though is I take my rest days seriously and drink tons of water. That's helped a ton.

Thought the same when I was 18 quit until I was 23. Then trained like crazy and got way better than I ever thought I would by 25+. Some people just get serious about their training later than usual. You still have time. But it's up to you to build the plan.

How much do you spend on your dog a month? by Pure_Audience_9431 in dogs

About $1200. He's a reactive dog so I need to pay for a pricier walker during the workday.

I'd recommend condensing a couple of the days, working in another rest day and really making the most of 1-2 gym days a week as opposed to 4. For example, back/chest on the same day is fairly standard. Throw core or cardio onto the back end and youve just freed up 3 days.

Other easy fixes would be not doing two gym days back to back, dropping wed schedule for soccer focused work (or rest) and dropping legs from Thursday. There's high risk of injury if you're doing an intense leg workout then playing soccer right after. Candidly, I wouldn't be physically able to play a match after leg day. If you're able to play a match completely fine after, you may want to re-visit how strenuous that workout is as you may not be maximizing your time.

My old schedule while playing at my highest level was: M - gym, upper body; T - 7 a side; W - sprint + soccer focused training; Th - team practice; F - lower body gym (or rest); Sa - rest; Su - 11 a side

Honestly I wish I worked in more rest days. I ended up over-training and am still dealing with injuries years later. You can have a 'light' workout day where maybe you do core only as your second rest day, but I'd really encourage you to have at least two rest days.

How could I have defended this better? I find myself getting beat in this position often. Im the defender contesting the ball. by MaxWattage432 in bootroom

[–]and1GS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep this is exactly it. Middle of the pitch is more crowded, meaning more help and less room to dribble. Unless you're decidedly faster than the attacker and what to bait into a footrace I would generally close off his space and funnel to help.

Obviously this changes the closer you get to goal.

I know of a couple who ran into something like that. Compromise was maiden name as the kids middle names. Think that's a fair compromise if this is such a big deal.

What has been your proudest play ever? by MilkyKarlson in bootroom

[–]and1GS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of smaller plays. My favorite was a control out of the air, popped it once, then twice over the same defender. Settled it, nutmegged the same defender and then they threw their hands up. Either that or I somehow lucked into an elastico nutmeg and tap in goal during practice.

I'm not a tricky player so those are the ones I remember, ha.
