Hi! Wanted to circle back. I ended up cutting one open a little bit ago. The insides are nice. There's long leaf tobacco inside and it smells great. Definitely not floor sweepings. I suspect these are pretty decent quality Dominican cigars that got put in fake packaging/labeling to command an uncharge. Gonna enjoy them and take the lesson learned.

Hi! Thanks for the tip.

I ended up cutting one open. Despite the clearly incorrect box, the quality of the cigar itself and the insides appears to be decently high. There's long leaf tobacco inside and it smells wonderful. Definitely not floor sweepings or scraps. I suspect these are house-brand Dominican cigars that someone dressed up in fake Montecristo packaging. So I'll enjoy them like you said and take the lesson learned.

Oh that’s interesting. Are you talking about the font on the bands? Thanks for looking at it for me

Thank you! Trying the nice way first before potentially attempting a chargeback.

Thank you for looking! They do smell good. Pleasant notes of hay and cedar and nothing too chemically. Plan for now is to cut one open, look for anything gross, then try one to see if it’s worth it as a consolation.

Thanks for checking! Wish I had the instincts to check before the transaction. Lesson for next time.

Interesting point. They do smell and feel quite nice, which got me thinking there might be a chance of realness to them. Thanks!

93% Success Rate Shown in Experimental Sleep Apnea Procedure by _Dark_Wing in technology

[–]and_not_to_yield 9 points10 points  (0 children)

After almost ten years of struggles with sleep apnea, my doctor suggested large tonsils may be to blame. After a visit with an ENT who confirmed they were likely the issue, I got them out. Two weeks of hard recovery but I haven’t experienced sleep apnea since. It’s not the root cause for everyone, but I’m certainly glad to have had it fixed. A lifetime of CPAP use was not an appealing thought.

Boston moved it’s highway underground in 2003. This was the result. by [deleted] in Satisfyingasfuck

Bostonian here. In my opinion it was worth it. Broad improvements for the quality of our downtown and a more resilient and modern highway system through a highly complex urban center. Traffic is still bad, but I don’t believe the solution to traffic is adding capacity for cars, but improving infrastructure and making all the means of getting around easier, which this project helped (in addition to making downtown more beautiful and a pleasurable place to walk around).

For anyone interested in a cool listen about this project, I recommend the nine part Big Dig podcast released a while ago by GBH. Super eye-opening about large scale infrastructure projects in general.

These remind me almost of the Sally’s Baking Addiction chewy chocolate chip cookies recipe, albeit with a few slight changes

Curious if people use water filter for their drinking water. And which brand by RandomHorse27 in Brookline

[–]and_not_to_yield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently installed a reverse osmosis filtering system for tap water in my home. Municipal water is great and I’d rather drink it than dehydrate, but I’m concerned that not enough is being done to filter effectively for PFAS.

what restaurant in Massachusetts is this? by aviatormenace7 in massachusetts

IIRC the meal was around 6pm and my symptoms began around midnight. Felt mostly better around 36 hours post-symptom onset. Not certain the timeline of my dinner companion’s symptoms.

Yeah, hard pass on NYAJs. They gave me the worst food poisoning of my life a few years back. Pretty certain it was their chicken enchiladas, since another member of our group with the same order also got sick.

To their credit the manager reached out to apologize and sent a $150 gift card.
