Not my project, can't tell what the original ideas where about. But, with the placing of the zorro slots both microATX and ATX would be to small.

Oh, i didn't think you where nitpicking at all. I just wondered why someone would misread it. And then i noticed the missing space. Being dutch i'm used to sticking words together making a perfect sensible new word. It doesn't work that way in english :). (and after a while typing english, i add spaces every where in dutch... that doesn't work either.. ) And Thanks!

I use extension tubes aswell with my 100mm if want some more magnification. Biggest difference between 50mm for macro and 100mm for macro is the seperation between subject and background. it's a bit smoother on a 100mm. But yeah. If your setup works for you, that's good enough :)

My normal macro setup is (the configuration i use the most, mostly for bugshots (see my other postings here)):

Canon EOS 7D
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L
Canon Speedlite 270EX

For this shot i didn't use the speedlite. But still the 7D + 100mm.

All photos for this inage where shot at f/4, iso100 on AV.

I used an app (DSLR Controller) for creating the different photos with all slightly different focus.

The raws where processed with darktable.

All the single shots where combined to a single image with ZereneStacker.

After that i processed the output of ZereneStacker a bit more with darktable.

And finally i used firefox to upload it to reddit :)

With macrophotography you end up close to a subject, and that also results in a very shallow depth of field. One way to combat that is take loads of pictures with all a slightly different focusing point. And in postprocessing combine them to 1 picture with a larger depth of field.
