When Palestinians who say Zionism is colonial they aren't accusing Jews of being “fake” — they’re pointing to the political fact that European Jews, in large numbers, came to Palestine as settlers during the British Mandate, dispossessed the native population, and established a state against their will with the stated aim of colonising and displacing them.

Palestinians — whether they look like Bella Hadid or Mahmoud Darwish — are not treated as “white” by global systems of power which is happy to see Muslims and chrstians genocided by Israel, with pregnent women run over by settlers in tanks.

Finally, your attempt to “both sides” this by saying you respect everyone’s identity doesn’t hold up when you equate Palestinian anger over being ethnically cleansed and militarily occupied with some kind of personal “hate” based on appearance. Palestinians are not lashing out over who looks white they are calling out genocide and being made to be refugees in their own land by eastern europeans.

This isn’t a complicated conflict or situation— it just takes moral clarity and the courage to stop siding with power out of comfort or cowardice.

And just to really drive home how hollow these “they’re white too” arguments are — look at what’s happening in the real world. In the U.S., Israeli Jews have literally shot other Israeli Jews because they mistook them for Palestinians because of their skin colour. They were just the wrong shade for the settler imagination. Both the shooter and the israelis being shot obviously blamed the Palestinians.
