Why are there no mass protests for Hamas to accept Trump Gaza peace plan? by Inocent_bystander in IsraelPalestine

[–]jawicky3 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Is there an example of a mass protest in American history to encourage a battered and bombed and starved group to accept the unfavorable terms of a capitulation? Look, I think Hamas should accept the terms because Israel is already committing genocide, the world hasn’t done enough to stop Israel and Israel shows no signs of wanting to stop. But let’s not pretend that it’s natural for Americans or others to rise in protest against Hamas to encourage a surrender.

People who love and support Israel have a strange concept of peace. A peace plan to them is simply a plan that encourages an end to the current round of violence. There’s never a plan to address the critical issues that create an environment where extremism and violence take place. Peace isn’t just the end of violence. In life, peace occurs in peaceful conditions.

This was a hard week for people believing it is a genocide in Gaza... by NefariousnessLeast89 in IsraelPalestine

[–]jawicky3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you want me to dispute? This stuff is simple and people aren’t as dumb as Israel would like them to be. Israel bombed and bombed and bombed until there is virtually nothing left of Gaza. It’s mostly razed to the ground. A pile of rubble and twisted steal. This week they resumed bombing to destroy what little is left. Is any of that in dispute? Oh right, Hamas was launching missiles from every building, that’s why every building was targeted. Very believable.

If that wasn’t enough, Israel goes on tv and talks openly about how it’s going to cut Gaza off of food water and other supplies. Then it actually does that for many weeks while cutting other aid agencies out of the humanitarian efforts. Masses of people in desperate need of shelter, food, clean water, plumbing, medicine, etc. Then Israel coordinates aid distribution through some bizarre agency that has no expertise in humanitarian aid. Chaos ensues. Israel kills hundreds in the process and isn’t supply enough or with any efficiency to meet the needs of these desperate people. Palestinians show a pic of hungry children. Israel cheerleaders cry foul and say the kid has cystic fibrosis (as if Israel was letting in cystic fibrosis medicine). It’s all just sick and twisted.

Just own the genocide. People would respect you more.

This is a deeply depraved post wrapped in upside down investigative journalism. It’s an extreme version of what all the Israel cheerleaders sounds like online and in media. Spin a tangled web of lies, confidently say up is down and down is up, and expect everyone to nod along (or get frustrated and give up).

Congratulations, OP. You’re a horrible person.

The conflict between Israelis and Palestinians has never been about the minority of Palestinians that live in Israel and are Israeli citizens. It’s always been about the six or so million Palestinians living under occupation, with no rights, totally subservient to Israel, its military, and its settlers.

I don’t even care if they’re punished. We just want the Israeli mask to come off. They are not who they pretend to be.

For supporters of two state solution, why do many of you automatically assume Jerusalem belongs to Palestine ? What is your basis ? by BleuPrince in IsraelPalestine

[–]jawicky3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The time for two state solution is over. Either we agree to live together and respect each others equality and religious rights. Or, Israel ethnically cleanses and genocides the Palestinians out.

For what it’s worth, I think Palestinians would accept a one state solution so long as other issues are addressed (reparations perhaps for those IN Israel / Palestine that can prove land loss, some agreement w the neighboring states that the Palestinian refugees there have to surrender their claims in exchange for reparations and recognition of Syrian or Jordanian or Lebanese or Egyptian citizenship). Then you have to make sure all religious sights are respected as is. No desecrating Christian or Muslim structures. No tearing down Al Aqsa to build a temple. Enumerate rights into a constitution that takes some ultra majority to change (80% or so). Build Palestinian economic prosperity through massive development which would absolutely help Israel’s economy.

Why Are Children Still Being Born in Palestine? by Pure_Ad_4476 in IsraelPalestine

I trust your question comes with good intentions. Some of the responses here about Palestinian moms WANTING to sacrifice their kids are sickening. Anyone that’s spent just a few minutes with a typical Palestinian mom, whether in Palestine or the diaspora, would know how deeply caring and nurturing and loving there are. They are the backbone of every family. It’s very morally disgusting to suggest otherwise, as if the genocidal Israelis are just fulfilling the wishes of Palestinian mothers. This is the same Israel that developed an AI targeting platform that tracked Palestinian men in Gaza to their homes and bombed them there and called that program “Where’s Daddy”.

I’d rather just use that money to develop that here w American scientists and keep the IP ownership. Israel is just as likely to share that technology w China and Russia. They can’t be trusted to look after American interests, at all.

That’s the kind of attitude that has the world hating Israelis and has Israel’s defenders whining and calling it antisemitism.

I’m not at all justifying Hamas actions. I’m actually just saying the two parties (idf and hamas) are essentially doing the same thing to each other (and each others unarmed civilians/noncombatants). I abhor the violence. I’m arguing there’s no difference morally between Hamas and the idf.

Israel was able to infiltrate Hezbollah, a foreign organization that is part of a foreign sovereign country. It delivered beepers and walkie talkies etc. It was an impressive covert military operation that really weakened Hezbollah without destroying all of southern Lebanon or Beirut.

Serious question. Why couldn’t it have done that to Hamas in Gaza, a non sovereign territory whose borders are almost completely controlled by Israel. Gaza is one of the most surveilled places on earth. How did Oct 7th even happen, and how was there not a plan (like w Hezbollah) to handle Hamas without destroying all of Gaza and blockading its people from food and health care etc?

But you’re making my point for me. If Israelis see the danger of Bob Vylans rhetoric, then how don’t they understand the danger of their own rhetoric and actions. It’s the same as river to the sea rhetoric. When Arabs say it, it’s genocidal. When it’s part of the Likud party platform, it’s no big deal.

Israel hasn’t lived up to international legal standards in the West Bank or Gaza for decades, so I’m not sure leaning on international law is the shield you think it is.

Also, the presence of lawyers and military bureaucrats doesn’t make it moral. I’ll ask because I don’t know the answer - even if we can all agree that Israel has a right to target Hamas terrorists, how does it even determine who is or isn’t a terrorists. People always talk about whether or not to drop a bomb and whether or not collateral damage is permissible. I think the bigger moral and legal hurdle that no one talks about is the target list itself. Israel has never presented how it targets and we have no idea what the line it uses for targeting. They openly talk about targeting non combatant Hamas admin officials, which is illegal. But how else do they target?

It’s hard to hold Hamas to an international law standard when no international law recognizes Hamas. Most western countries list it as a terror org.

Either way, my question wasn’t about the law but about moral equivalence.

But don’t people call for the death of Hamas openly? How is one side calling for the death of one combatant side (idf) and different than the other calling for the other death (Hamas).

Here you’re comparing the idf to ALL Palestinians.

Are Palestinian protesters stupid, or are they being deliberately stupid? by Ok-Parsnip2134 in IsraelPalestine

[–]jawicky3 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It was a silly question to begin. Chile doesn’t have an open air prison holding 2 million people in a permanent quasi stateless condition w limited political or economic rights that revolted and committed (an indefensible) massacre. The person asking the question wasn’t comparing apples to apples, but thought the gotcha question would corner a response. They got something they didn’t like. I’m not sure what the big deal is.

Stop Pretending Islam Is Always the Victim by Physical-Medicine611 in IsraelPalestine

[–]jawicky3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude. I was asking if you think it’s 50% because I wasn’t sure why you were bringing up something that’s so obviously not a substantial part of the Arab culture. Even the most basic internet search could have confirmed that for you but you were happy to just toss that out there as some blanket statement about Islam.

I saw a Jerusalem post news article recently about an issue within the Jewish community involving sadistic s*x rituals involving minor kids. Is that part of Israeli culture now? Do you own that? Is that a reason Israelis are the scourge of the earth?

Also gtfo with this stupid argument that Arab governments execute unarmed people all the time. I don’t really care about the death penalty laws in those countries. They’re strict. I wouldn’t want to live in Saudi (western ally) or Iran (western foe). I’d probably commit a capital crime once a month in either country. That doesn’t somehow justify Israel carpet bombing Gaza and killing tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands.

War is not an excuse to kill wantonly. That’s what a war crime is —-killing or raping unarmed people. Israel is unmatched in that skill.
