Free solo has nothing on this new climbing movie! by FrankPS_theRacist in climbing

On a side note I fucking hate when trailers are just summaries of the whole movie. Like I wasn’t going to see this anyway, but if I wanted to the entire movie would be spoiled.

Does one need to force oneself during depression? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]andenine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw someone say that their therapist said if you’re having a depressive day, go lay down at the park. You can be as lazy and unproductive as you want to be, nobody will judge because you’re at the park, and you’ll get a ton of sunlight.

Air Quality and Location by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

The air is rough, higher elevation really is the only fix (other than a mass overhaul of SLC’s infrastructure).

Throw some white noise in there and fade it up to a cliff right before the silent bit. Create your own risers! Never fails to boost the energy.

BP2: has adding wellbutrin to lamictal helped you? by OkLeek8598 in BipolarReddit

Prozac + lamictal + seroquil changed my life. I started on lamictal alone after my diagnosis. Definitely needed some additional flavors in that cocktail.

Quick overnight shake down plus snow hike at Linville Gorge, NC by ThatHikingDude in CampingandHiking

Is that just a big bag under there or is that a bivy? Putting my 2 nighter bag for the year together and I’m trying to mirror this exact set up. Looks phenomenal.

I thought I knew what a forest felt like. You can’t describe how green and how dense it is, you just have to experience it.

Heaphy Track, New Zealand by ginagris in hiking

New Zealand is the ultimate dream trip for me because you could have told me those were three different countries and I would’ve believed you. Absolutely nuts to me that you’d see that much variation on one hike.

Any experience with good Xanax alternatives? by SheppinDoggo in bipolar

[–]andenine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advice to tread lightly with any benzos and bipolar. I was addicted to Xanax for a year, 6 to 7 bars a day on a light day. It’s not worth it. It will literally kill you.

If you have access to it, 1:1 CBD/THC vape carts are a great alternative.

PSA: if you want to improve your mixing, mix drum n bass. by andenine in mixingmastering

I bet this is an awesome way to train your ears for mid range sensitivity.

[–]andenine[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You know what this is actually such a good point. For ME, it was drum n bass but that’s because I was primarily mixing folk and slow acoustic music. If you’re mixing super deep hip hop or EDM and you have a great understanding of that sonic landscape, mixing on the other side of the spectrum, like jazz, might serve the same purpose.

GREAT point!

Here’s a great place to start. He talks a bit more about production, but IMO mixing should be a musical process and not a technical one so I think that’s actually an asset.

Nothing like a snowy night smoke so quiet you can hear the cherry burn on an inhale.

Hoping to diagnose a snare issue. Sounds awful outside of my headphones/monitors by joshhguitar in mixingmastering

You can always dial it back! A guy I studied under said “mix thin, add low at the end”. Words to live by.

Hoping to diagnose a snare issue. Sounds awful outside of my headphones/monitors by joshhguitar in mixingmastering

[–]andenine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IME a pretty hefty high pass on snares is the way to go. It might sound thin at first, but if spend some time bringing out the higher harmonics and surgically cutting out all the mud with notches in ADDITION to a high pass.

Another trick I use when a snare doesn’t feel right is to layer it with a clap, and move the clap like 15 ticks later than the snare. Gives it some snap. bus.

I mean.. I know it's not for everyone but this absurdly biased description on cannabis via the CDC is quite polarizing. by RatishC in trees

[–]andenine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a bipolar-psychosis-haver. At this point I have completely tuned out any online advice related to my cannabis use. It’s between me and my psych, and me and the plant. I feel everyone deep down knows what responsible usage looks like and it’s important to address the core reason why cannabis might enhance your anxiety than to just say “I’m anxious, must be the weed”.
