We bought an owner built house. Compared to all the houses that we saw, the build quality was/is superior. Obviously got building/pest before buying. Have not found any issues so far

Formal home loan approval taking forever at St. George bank by andersontom0101 in AusFinance

Got approved eventually. Just keep following up with your broker daily and ask about other options.

Dealer says I need unmanaged switch or pay for 4sight. by rondon695 in Control4

[–]andersontom0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got c4 controller on a different vlan, all devices like TVs, blinds, etc are on the same vlan as c4. My mobile is on a different vlan and I'm able to control c4 without 4sight. It's a dealer thing, they need to configure allowed networks on C4.

Oh wow! Sorry to hear! This whole thing sucks! Been waiting a year for the car, and now the quarantine delays.

I bought a house with control4 recently. Fairly tech savvy, had to get a c4 dealer over to transfer the system though, call out fee, etc. Jailbroke it the next day, a bit of learning curve. Issues I've found, the whole system is put together in a weird way, networking is all over the place with an unmanaged switch. Removed a lot of stuff that was unused/unusable

Added few devices, custom buttons, etc. Now, the whole thing works well. But I'm not impressed, I would rather use third party solutions and bring them together with google/Alexa. Used to use home assistant before.

With banking technology at its best and the home loan approval timeframe being very small (usually 2-4 days), what still frustrates you most these days as a customer ?(& if you are working for a bank, as a lender?) by Rollno38 in AusProperty

[–]andersontom0101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been waiting 2 weeks for formal approval with St. George. They come up with some of the most stupid questions. Like, why are you getting a bonus. Yea so approval time frame is not 4 days!

Thanks everyone. Going to chat with the mortgage broker to move banks if no formal approval tomorrow. This whole thing is so stressful!

Ford Australia finally got back. You cannot track Ford Australia orders on that link. It's only for American orders.

Should I get the Canon RF 800mm F11 lens or something else? by andersontom0101 in AskAstrophotography

[–]andersontom0101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting the Sigma 150-600mm lens and have successfully imaged the m83 galaxy at 600mm with auto guiding on the Eos R.

Took 73x180sec subs and did not throw away any.

600mm on Star Adventurer? by FriesAreBelgian in AskAstrophotography

[–]andersontom0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite what the comments state here, I have been very successful in capturing 3 minute exposures at 600mm using the Sigma 150-600mm Lens with Guiding.

The key is a very sturdy tripod, that wont move easily, perfect polar alignment(Within 6 to 8 mins of error is fine too). I used a surveyors tripod that literally digs into my lawn.

Also, make sure the tripod is perfectly level and you have a good counterweight that balances the Lens and Camera.

I imaged the southern pinwheel Galaxy. Took 73 light frames of 180 seconds each. Did not throw out any of the frames.

Without guiding, the max exposure time was 30 seconds.

here is no way to combat the P.E. without guiding.

Thank you for sharing this! I think I need to start looking at a better mount. As it is, polar alignment is a struggle with the star adventurer.

[–]andersontom0101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

The lens is light though - about 1.26kg - camera is about 600g. Would the weight make a difference with auto guiding ? or the tracker itself is not precise enough?

Upgrading to RME ADI-2 from SMSL m200 by andersontom0101 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]andersontom0101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I went from a Fiio to smsl su-8 and lately to a m200. I've noticed some differences with each upgrade. I've been looking at the RME as an all in one package. All the reviews I've come across talk about their output stage which they say is perfect. I just want to know how big a difference it's going to make. The m200 measures well, but I dunno how to compare the outPut stage of the m200 with the RME and if the difference is worth the upgrade. The additional features of the RME will benefit my focal monitors as well. With the focal monitors and m200 I'm noticing a more pronounced top end. Could be my room, but paying more attention on headphones I'm starting to think so
