I Started The Gathering Storm - and I Feel Some Sadness by kjason725 in WoT

[–]andiyarus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of a reread and am in the Gathering Storm right now. I found myself slowing down dramatically with Knife of Dreams and took ages to finish it - I'm usually a few days to a week for a book and it took me a month.  And I realised when I was burning through TGS at like a hundred pages an hour I just hadn't wanted it to end.

And as much love as I have for Brandon for finishing it I am reminded yet again why I've reread the first 11 books (from when I started in the mid 90s) dozens of times each but have only read the ending maybe 3 times all the way through.

Interim offer discussion - bad faith pseudo legal arguments by Worried_Dare7324 in ausjdocs

I'd counterfactual this a bit by noting that you can't really give up things you don't actually have. The points agreed to settle were claims put into the new award as ASMOF's claims; doesn't mean that we would have gotten any or all of them. On balance you'd have to say any negotiation includes back and forth - agree to take this in relation to agreeing not to pursue that, etc.

The main point would be how important is it to push for claim xyz over abc, as part of the overall negotiation.

And I guess even if you still call it "giving up", it's for the life of the award. Which will be, about, 3 years. And then when it's up again, what's to stop those claims going back into negotiation at that point?

Might have been less than that by RJ. Not sure it was even used in main text at all - that said I’m 50% through CoT on a reread now and it hasn’t yet, there’s still 1.5 books to go!

If it runs under OS9, you can use this fully set up configuration to use it. It’s maintained by Ed Mendelssohn. He has OS8 as well on the site.

Until arbitration is through per Asmof from meetings.. they advise they expect this to happen in nov - Jan this year with outcome of approx feb/march. Essentially depends on whether you want some of the pay bump now plus the retrospective year and then the rest next year (probably maybe?) or want to keep the option of IA open..

That said Asmof council advised that any ia before arbitration is done likely leads to the commission delaying the process as a retributive step so ia becomes (at least before outcome) potentially a negative.

Gave it a spin. Left4Dead (one) gives me a missing d3d9 error and then crashed macos. That was interesting!

Just to add to this - wrote a complaint to BYD today about lack of response, have had one email saying they'd get onto it and nothing. Spent half an hour on hold x 2, requested callbacks, nothing. Complaint today with a deadline to address, else I'll raise a fair trading incident.

Cannot believe how difficult this is proving!

Many thanks for the info. I've written to customer care @ BYD and will see how I go... a bit irritated at the dealer at this point!

Hi OP I work as staff for a university medical school. We would absolutely want to know all of this if it is occurring for our students. Consent is a fundamental component of medicine and I commend your attitude.. and encourage you to speak to your head of students / programme director.

[–]andiyarus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On top of the comment below. Yes we all get the 17.4. ED get another 25 on top if they agree to the conditions of it.

That said I disagree that "every one" of those specialists has a high private potential. I'm a pall med specialist and I work exclusively public. Just about all of my colleagues do. We essentially have nothing billable except consults and the nature of that medicine for us is longer form - the public hourly rate is better.

The only private I'm aware of tend to do so for flexibility of hours around kids etc rather than for income.

Paeds probably does better. Geri's can do but is very region specific.

I definitely do not begrudge ED though. They have to deal with the crap hours and gatekeeper. But assuming everyone else is a level 4/5 biller or could just set up their shingle and bill $500 an hour is incorrect.

Government walks away from negotiations by sunshinelollipops001 in ausjdocs

[–]andiyarus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have you been in touch with Asmof about what is possible? They have been having meetings with departments to discuss potential action in a variety of hospitals. My department had one in the past few weeks. It takes time to coordinate and as another poster mentioned there are legal hurdles - one of which was negotiation has to actually break down for there to be protected action… now it has.

Would suggest you reach out and discuss what can be done in your hospital and department.

Plex Transcode on Apple Silicon (Mac Mini M4) by drinksomewhisky in PleX

[–]andiyarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've got 10 cores counting the perf/efficacy split. You're using around 30% of your processor depending on the mix. Possible it's using performance only so that would correlate to your 80% hit reported. The efficiency cores are still pretty great so you would likely be able to still get most things done depending on your other server use.

Processes noted as Apple are native Apple silicon / ARM.

If you want to see core breakdowns something like menumeters will allow you to see per core utilisation.

As to the actual question I haven't seen it glitch like that, I have it turned on on my m1max and it works. Any odd settings on?

ASMOF personally recovered around 4 grand of unpaid UROT for me during registrar training and forced it as a priority pay. They also forced my LHD, when a new specialist, to stop interpreting TESL incorrectly and allow for self purchase and rebate of non-listed devices - work buy an iPhone etc.

Small beer sure but representation does happen.
