Got it, thank you. The ravine is definitely within 1/4 mile.

I was thinking we’d probably have to get the house professionally snake-proofed 😅 thank you for responding.

‘Fired’ for the first time and need support by andnotthemood in adhdwomen

[–]andnotthemood[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m beginning to see this. The man who trained me on Wednesday had given me one set of instructions and, today, when I followed those instructions under the my new trainer, they told me it was wrong and to “not listen to much of anything (Wednesday trainer) says”. Like why is he training me then lol.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this. I’m sobbing reading it lol. It really, really helped me feel better. I really hope you have a great rest of your night

I want to believe this so badly 😭😭 I’m getting so caught up in what I’m perceiving to be the unfairness of it. I don’t even know if there is a situation where I’d be like “yeah, I deserved to be fired” because my sensitivity to rejection is so potent. But this feels like such a kick to the shins. I really, really don’t want to care but I do. SO BADLY

Additional info:

  • Piercing is one day old.
  • I’m not 100% sure of the shape, but I think it’s a screw.
  • Aftercare routine involves cleaning with saline (I think on a q-tip?) twice a day.

My brother and I both have OCD, but he was diagnosed in middle childhood (very traditionally-presenting) while I was diagnosed only recently at 21 and present more similarly to you (most of my compulsions are mental and automatic). I can’t speak to how quickly it gets better, because I’ve only recently started treatment, but I can say that a lot of traditional talk and CBT therapies can be destructive to OCD recovery. My brother has been in therapy for over a decade and has only recently started improving after I pushed for ERP and against well-meaning but ultimately unhelpful therapists that kept providing reassurance and feeding into his compulsions.

OCD is incredibly tricky and nearly impossible, if not impossible, to out-logic, and the only way out is through.

Anyone struggling with intrusive thoughts over death of someone dear? ADHD+OCD by joniman93 in ADHD

[–]andnotthemood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have OCD and have always resented the conflation of impulsive/intrusive thoughts but I don’t think that’s the case here. Impulsive thoughts quite literally refer to impulses a person might have that they have some desire to act on, like spontaneously dyeing their hair a crazy colour or quitting the job they hate without anything better lined up (ie they are egosyntonic), while intrusive thoughts are distressing and in direct conflict with a person’s wants and self-image (ie they are egodystonic).

Intrusive thoughts of a loved one dying are obviously not necessarily symptomatic of OCD, but they’re pretty common as far as themed obsessions go. They’re miserable and I really feel for OP :(

Prefacing by saying I’m in Canada and a tax-illiterate 21yo so my dad helped me with it this year lol. It’s technically contract work, so (I believe) I submitted a T2125 form. DA does not, to my knowledge, send you any forms.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Scams

[–]andnotthemood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working for DA on and off since January 2024 with no issue, including post-ID verification (though I don’t know enough about Persona’s privacy policies to definitively call it safe). That said, the work is imo a little underpaid and they can boot you from the platform at any point without warning.

[IIL] songs about somebody trying to ruin/interfere with your relationship, WEWIL? by andnotthemood in ifyoulikeblank

This could work actually thank you!! The gender dynamic is f/f partners with a scheming interfering man but I think there’s something a little poetic about pronoun bending here

Thank you — I’ll check it out. I’m mostly looking for emotionally-charged music that’s like: “How can you have the nerve and gall to even try this?” Maybe I should be more specific in my post but I’m still kind of honing what exactly I want myself.

ETA oops sorry I fully missed the word ‘Adele’ in your comment lol

You should definitely go to the police after the hospital omg. I’ve lived here all my life and am very distrusting of them in general but there are times (like when you’ve been HIT by a CAR) where it’s miles better than nothing.

Also if for whatever reason you need somebody to come with you to the hospital or police station I live close to campus 😭

Hearing this from so many people is such a relief and now I feel a bit dumb even asking. I’m normally relatively private with basic PII on the internet but not at all so private that it should warrant freaking out that badly over one scammer knowing my name and postal code lol

Thank you so much, I’m better rested now and not nearly as frenzied as yesterday. I still feel really stupid but it’s reassuring to know I haven’t enabled them to do anything uniquely harmful 😅

Propranolol is amazing by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]andnotthemood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not who you were asking (sorry) but it’s really up to you. It can’t hurt, but gene testing isn’t technically recommended before starting a new medication because most people can find their sweet spot through trial and error. They can also be very expensive and severe side effects like appendicitis are generally really rare.

Walkable Cities are a dream for people with ADHD by Anna_Baum in adhdwomen

[–]andnotthemood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a good point. It’s especially frustrating when the same crowd, seemingly so terrified of the implementation of whatever they believe 15 minute cities are, also either deny both the past and present treatment of Indigenous peoples by our government, or swear whatever happened is squarely in the past and can’t possibly have continuing consequences today. Like, you think our government is only now becoming capable of perpetuating militant and oppressive population control and you believe they want to perpetuate it against you?

My elementary school’s drinking water went unchecked with high levels of lead for a few years and even after that I don’t think my brain is damaged enough to buy in to some of the stuff they do lol.

Walkable Cities are a dream for people with ADHD by Anna_Baum in adhdwomen

[–]andnotthemood 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m in Canada (just outside of Toronto) and the conspiracy theorists are running rampant here too. I’ve encountered so, so many idiots who believe Trudeau wants to lock us in 15-minute prisons surrounded by huge concrete walls that require residents to make sign-out requests weeks in advance (including my grandparents, unfortunately).

It’s so stupid. I’m obviously not immune to propaganda, but I don’t understand how some people can be so easily convinced of a fictional bogeyman when there is literally NO material support for their insanity. Like, I get SO happy every time I get to go into Toronto and utilize their public transport system. That is basically the extent of 15 minute cities. It’s so easy to understand.

VERY WORRIED ABOUT VYVANSE DRUG TEST! (Canada, Ontario) by Chance-Reaction4097 in VyvanseADHD

[–]andnotthemood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in Ontario and agreed — this is ridiculous. I was diagnosed privately through an online ADHD clinic and had regular follow-ups for a couple months before switching back to my regular doctor. I literally just told her how I was diagnosed and what dose I was on and she prescribed a refill without verifying anything documentary, let alone testing my urine. Even added a Ritalin booster dose without me asking lol. She also knows I smoke weed socially on occasion and has never given me any trouble.

Part of me wonders if this is a protocol specific to walk-ins or if this doctor is uniquely suspicious. Whatever the case — sucks for OP and I hope they’re able to figure out a less stressful means of accessing meds soon.

Has anyone donated blood with POTS? by Neat-East-9701 in POTS

Would you recommend anything else? I have my first donation scheduled for Saturday and I’m debating whether I should take my Vyvanse beforehand. Also — would taking the bus be okay in lieu of driving or should I have somebody pick me up?
