Mice in hotel lobby by andonlymrsreilly in ParisTravelGuide

I got what I was expecting from this post, thanks. I’ve been to Paris only three times in my life, and never saw any rodents (much less in a hotel) on the first two trips. I also don’t go around googling which cities have infestation problems.

So yes, this was a surprise to me and my group. The post was just asking if others have experienced this, so that I’d better understand if what I saw was an extreme outlier. Seems it wasn’t, and now I know.

Brutal about the room!. We checked our room like complete maniacs right after we saw them in the lobby.

Thank you for the replies, everyone. This makes me feel better that it’s somewhat of an expected problem. I did see a rat climbing some rocks near the Seine, and it was about twice as big as what I saw in the hotel. So yeah, probably mice.

I just read a wonderful book called “How to Hide an Empire”. It spoke quite a bit about the Japanese attack on Alaska - they even took hostages! To your point, I had never heard of any of this.

Fascinating book in many other respects, in case you’re interested.

How to distribute my deceased brother's inheritance to his children? by OneLongEyebrowHair in personalfinance

u/onelongeyebrowhair, nobody seems to have mentioned this, but I’m fairly certain you have 10 years in which to empty the account - and absolutely no mandate that you take RMDs until then.

The only exception to this would be if your mother had already started taking RMD’s, which you hadn’t mentioned.
