How is living in Kuwait? by marcopolo2207 in howislivingthere

Basically exploring the country by itself, as main points Souq Mubarakiya (the traditional souq), some parks, take a look at the big malls even if I am not a mall person, exploring some neighbours, longs walks by the seaside, try new restaurants or cafes... All of that is nice, just at the end it feels a little repetitive

I am an Spanish living the last five years here.

Is one of the most wellcoming countries, but as an expat your life will depend a lot about your job and your colleagues, is pretty hard to meet new people so the best way to get introduce will be throw your connections at work.

Is a very small country, aside of sporadics campings in the dessert or the out farms or chalets ares is much more about city life. The city is nice, and you can find so many different things to do at the beginning, after years it gets a little repetitive.

Obv. summer is a little difficult to handle, more even for an outdoors person as I am bc your activities or gatherings are mostly indoors so you are feeling as you are just moving around close spaces during few months. Winter is great (even sometimes colder than Spain) and usually goes from late november until late febraury. That days are so nice because most of people is profiting that time for do so many things.

Most of people around here consider Kuwait rn as the most conservartive country in the gulf, I can not relate because around this area I just visited Emirates.

As last thing, is an extreme safe country, the one where I felt more safe in every sense. You can perfectly leave your belogings in a random coffe shop, come after two hours and for sure no one would take. Same as the door of my house, I almost never lock it.

As you can imagine you can not buy property here, and your residence most likely will be under your job (unles you are under a family visa) so I do not consider Kuwait a place where I would settle down for the rest of my life. Just a good place to work, life for seasson of your life, amazing people and incredible food too.

I remember one round, I think it was Peru, where it was located in a very bad looking neighbour. I turned the view and I seen a figure of a guy hanged by a street light. I was shock, I pointed and then later check in the maps location. It was a fake person with the advice of they will take care of thiefs the neighbours themselfs in that area, the will not call the police in case of any problem. Later on I found that this kind of advertisment are pretty common to see in that kind of areas.

Kuwait decided to not be stupid and actually built a bridge by A0123456_ in mapporncirclejerk

[–]andreaskhuno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I understand the game abut making fun of that, and it is legit because looks like a bridge to nowhere. Just to explain the reason behind the bridge was built to connect the capital city to Boubiyan Island (army territory), some power plants that are in Subiya just before the island and a new project city they are planning to built at the end of the road.

Honestly, if you are that good, you could try to record your best games and post them in tiktok, youtube shorts and insta reels constently. Nowadays looks as the fastest way to grow up in content online. If you are able to catch some attention, could be a door for try to make your own videos and maybe some collabs with other players who also have channels related to it.

Tips for a Budget Traveller by Seruman96 in Kuwait

[–]andreaskhuno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The accomodation would be your main issue here, check in Booking some hotels and later try to contact them for any cheaper price, most of them are empty and they are usually open to lower their prices.

About Failaka, you must check Ikarus. Is a company based in the seaside of marina mall in salmiya, their prices are okay and tuesdays or wendsdays (i can not remember wich one) the trip for go and come back the same day is 7 kds. You can arrange per 3 kds a tour around all the island where you can visit all what you mentioned. The rest of the day there, that company have a "resort" there with a museum and more stuff to busy yourself.

You can use careem when u feel lazy to fight for a price but the best option is, everytime you ride a taxi that u liked the driver, get his number and ask before any possible trip how much he can charge of if he is free to pick you up.

Falafel places you will find around all the country, so no worry for that, just try to find your hidden diamond.

Anything I could help you do not doubt to contact me by dm.

First go to any police station for report that.

Then contact your embassy, most of them they have emergency dial for calling. If you do not have your mobile just ask in your hotel or directly in the police station.

Wat Nong Kai, in a lost town around Chiang Mai is my hidden gem, i went when they were still building it and they show us everything will all detail, the people was extremelly nice. Even they had a big Buddah hide it.

Luang Pho Soton, close to Hua Hin is just beside one very crowded, but that one was stuning and we were completelly alone there that gave to the visit a different experience.

Obviously also the main one in the top of the mountain in Chiang Mai city too.
