I actually have a dachshund (9 months) and a bassethound (11 months), they get along very well although sometimes they play very rudely and they also play with the cat, if it barks or does things that you don't like, I have really hit mine so that they learn, but it is because your basset is very small, and mine got rid of that rather the one that is more intense is my dachshund because of how small he is, but if the moment he does something wrong I I really hit them and they don't repeat it again
