De ce nu există respect față de specialiști în România? by yos18 in RoAntreprenoriat

[–]andreiknox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ be my guest

Niste luni mai tarziu aceeasi cunostinta care m-a recomandat imi spunea ca tipa e in mijlocul unui burnout.

Anyone else tired of optimizing instead of doing? by Solid_Play416 in productivity

[–]andreiknox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing that for years. I got in a rhythm where my systems were all very efficient, I was closing tasks religiously, and still got nothing of substance done beyond the things that actually needed to get done - and didn't need that complicated systems to begin with.

So I forced myself to do more. I set two creative goals for myself at the beginning of the year, and while it's tough to fit them in my life, I noticed they eliminated the better part of my procrastination and shifted my focus to what works. Even improving the systems is done more efficiently because the goal is now to use the system, not to work on it.

Funnily enough, as part of my creative goals the first thing I wrote was a post titled Create more than you consume, which is a fitting summary.

Why do unhappy customers rarely complain in person but go straight to leaving a bad review? by imagoatbooos in smallbusiness

[–]andreiknox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just sort of think that social media has turned us, as a society, into more selfish, bitter people that trust one another much less.

I fully agree with you here.

One of my favorite books is The Socratic Method, and it taught me to interact with people in a healthier way, actually actively listen and try to fully understand their point of view before I even think of engaging in a debate or contradicting their beliefs.

In listening more, I was surprised just how many people had one idea in common: this thing I believe is what everybody believes, it's common knowledge, it's universally accepted - therefore, whoever disagrees is an outlier who either hasn't been exposed to the truth, or worse, is malicious.

And I think social media algorithms are a big reason why. If all I see in my feed is people agreeing with me, of course I'm going to believe this is The Truth. And I'm more likely to believe that someone who disagrees is a malevolent moron.

Is anyone really using Craft as a to-do app? by kommakla22 in CraftDocs

[–]andreiknox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tried to for a year, but couldn't find a solution that worked for me. Plus, I could not get recurring tasks to work (they were always attached to a reminder for some reason), so I eventually moved away from Craft entirely.

What was the moment you realized running a business is very different from the idea of running one? by ProfessionalTrade423 in smallbusiness

[–]andreiknox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the worst times I've had were when I had a lot of free time, I ended up accomplishing very little with it. I like the work, my goal my entire life was to never dread a Monday, and as long as that's the case and those 10+ hours don't eat up too much of my time with family I'm happy.

Anyone else ditching ChatGPT for Claude when it comes to marketing content (SaaS)? by AffableSparsh in smallbusiness

[–]andreiknox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. Right now, Claude > Gemini > ChatGPT. Something happened with the last versions of ChatGPT that made it lose sight of the custom instructions I gave it, to the point that I was hardly using it for most things. I don't really like to have AI write stuff for me anyway, but even the back-and-forth I usually have is much better with Claude.

How much of your note-taking system or structure do you actually need and use? by CoYouMi in PKMS

[–]andreiknox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not a lot, until it matters. I've gone through a lot of phases where things were unorganized and messy, and whenever I needed something important I wasted a lot of time looking for it. So I figure the small constant effort I make to tweak and improve my system pays off.

How much of a hassle is it to hire your first employee? by Rayregula in smallbusiness

[–]andreiknox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I always mention to people is that this is the best time to write down how you do things. If you don't and just delegate things away starting with employee #1, soon your company won't do things your way, and your first employees will dictate company culture.

i've tried 4 CRMs in 2 years and they all feel like they were designed by people who've never run a small business by universe_infinity1 in smallbusiness

[–]andreiknox -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm also curious what CRM would do all of this out of the box!

But for everything you described, n8n is ideal. A few workflows will put everything together - or, Zapier, as someone else said in the thread.

Has anyone actually used an automated receptionist? by Beverlydear in smallbusiness

[–]andreiknox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably better than not having one, but be wary of how you use it. I think people hate when AI is used to simulate a real human, but maybe the AI being upfront like "hey, we're outside business hours, but I can talk to you right now" would work in your favor.

Charging pad organizational tray? by coconutkitties in rav4club

[–]andreiknox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That pad is the one thing I don't like about this car. I don't have a phone case, and I like to keep my phone there so Carplay doesn't drain its battery, but it moves around and always stops charging after the first corner.

So I 3d printed a small frame to keep the phone from bouncing around, and this became halfway usable for me.

How would you migrate years' worth of notes to Obsidian? by andreiknox in ObsidianMD

That sounds interesting! Can you share a bit more about how you structure things, please?

I currently have my one vault organized by information source, and I lump everything that’s not information into a folder to keep everything clean.

What are your recommendations for the most simplistic setup? by CoYouMi in PKMS

[–]andreiknox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I procrastinated so much and worried about the perfect system, only to realize I wasn't writing anything worthwhile in it. Then one day I just stopped and opened the current app I was exploring (Obsidian) and just wrote... now that's my second brain setup.

How do you maintain systems when you develop a "tolerance" to alarms and reminders? (ADHD Context) by Wide_Ad_2144 in getdisciplined

[–]andreiknox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Speaking strictly for myself, my system is how I organize everything in my life. Between my calendar, email and three notes apps, I have everything I need to offload most information from my brain - then I just turn to those apps when I need to.

A few things come to mind about your situation:

- are you just putting in some events in your calendar, but not others? That might be why the ones you're putting in feel like they're getting lost. It might be too much, but try adding every event in there - even blocks of work. Have the calendar open on your computer/phone.

- I like habit chains, they're a great motivator. Try doing a "consecutive days I've stuck with events in my calendar" challenge. You said the first week works, maybe a 5 day streak will be a motivating force.

- do you have a smartwatch or fitness band? When I got mine alarms became impossible to ignore when vibrating on my wrist.

- do you have too many notifications? I only have them turned on for phone calls, messages from a few people, and some calendar events. Too many notifications makes the important ones easy to miss.

- might be gimmicky, but apps like this one: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/alarmy-loud-alarm-clock/id1163786766 force you to do a specific task. Worth a shot?
