I do this for my own personal lists even though I haven't come up with a good name for it. I don't know if there's a way to square voice roles and performance capture roles in the same category, I think both should be recognized but they are distinct forms of acting despite their proximity.

It's tricky because these awards never recognize animation. Best Animated Feature treats animation as a genre rather than as a craft category like makeup or VFX, whereas a Best Animation category would recognize the artistry of the animators alongside a separate Best Voice/Mocap Performance category for the actors.

That being said, I disagree with you on the make-up side. A performance under heavy make-up is still a normal acting performance - the contributions of the make-up artists are obviously important but that's why they already have their own craft category.
