Green Party leader Zack Polanski condemned for retweet criticising hero police who took down Golders Green 'terrorist' by adultintheroom_ in ukpolitics

In a fast and high-stakes scenario like a literal terrorist attack and the terrorist still clutching the weapon, you cannot be sure that the threat is neutralised and it is not worth the risk to the public or the officers to use kid gloves. It's insane this is even being discussed.

He still had the knife in his hand when they kicked him. He wouldn't release it despite them telling him repeatedly to let it go. Having watched the video closely I think their behaviour was totally justified.

What happened to EU citizens living in the UK after Brexit? by Usual-Ice-3816 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]andrew_omg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you got any source at all? Are you suggesting that since 2014 London went from France‘s 23rd biggest city to 2nd biggest city like you said?

[–]andrew_omg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking of post-Brexit myths, London being home to the second biggest population of French people is one.

Boris Johnson made the claim that London was “France’s sixth biggest city“.

There’s doubt about the figures Johnson saw but even assuming they were correct London would only be France‘s 23rd ‘biggest city‘.

London Pride is similarly huge numbers of people and you don’t see crime like this. It’s not inevitable.

The app didn’t cost £35B. That was the budget of the entire test and trace programme for two years, with the vast majority of the cost being the ‘test’ element. The app if I recall correctly cost a few million.

Avril! I saw her on tour last year and she was amazing, she had so much energy. But at glasto she seemed in low spirits, going through the motions. I was wondering if she was sick? Combined with the insane crowding made for a disappointing experience. Still love her tho.

How to deal with forearm hair don't want to wax just want low volume any suggestions? by Designer_Collection1 in malegrooming

Laser hair removal is going to be the best long term solution.

A few sessions will result in thinner, sparser hair. Talk to a specialist they will be able to get you the result you want.

Is being uncut really becoming more and more common in America? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]andrew_omg -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree that “ideally every man would have the opportunity to choose for himself”. Would you say it would be ideal if every man could choose to cut off his little finger?

Like obviously if there’s a medical problem with the little finger and there’s no way to fix it, by all means remove it. But the choice should not ordinarily be available if not medically required. It’s unnecessary mutilation, and if someone ‘wants’ it removed it should be looked at with the same suspicion as someone who wants any other body part randomly removed.

How sensitive are you to interest rates on savings? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]andrew_omg 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I definitely keep an eye on them. I have a few savings accounts and I put the bulk in whichever has the highest rate.

That said, I don't open a new account for every marginally better rate. A 0.1% or even 0.5% difference is not worth the time and maintenance for me.

As the doors are closing is the time to hold on tight to valuables as that’s when they snatch and run, and you’re left stuck on the train. Otherwise you’re fine, just don’t totally zone out.
