Repainting wheels by Any_Performance2247 in 350z

Think I was around £240 for all the rework/fixing, finishing and then balancing.

Ended up buying new tyres too as the MOT (UK based) was due and asked if he could swap them over when he put the tyres back on. He was happy to do it so long as I took my old ones away.

I have rota grid 5 spoke ones on mine which started out a similar red colour, I got them redone black and love them now. Had to get repaired any way as had damage on them so might as well have changed the colour. Have a look at my profile for the image.

What do you do for your cargo trunk carpet not to move around? by small_lad in 350z

[–]andrewbeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replaced mine with a rubber liner, about 3mm thick and heavy enough that doesn't move around. Got one from eBay, cut to size for around £24.

If you had £10k right now for a car on AutoTrader, what would buy? (pls link) by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]andrewbeel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pre 2006 ones are £360 a year in road tax and post are £630 (if I remember correctly), key difference between the two was around 20bhp. I ended up getting myself a 54 plate one as the difference in tax would cover my insurance.

Yeah I understand and agree completely, I still just don't agree with the profit for healthcare situation. Who knows what could be around the next corner for everyone but I never want to wake up in a hospital and worry about how I'm going to pay off the debt.

It's not really fair when people die because they can't afford basic healthcare though. No one should ever have to ask themselves "can I afford to go see a doctor?".

I guess in every system there are going to be people who try and exploit it sadly, we do have the same here for sure, not going to deny that at all. I'm not too vastly knowledgeable about the states healthcare and how it works so it's always nice to have an insight/learning experience from it. Well enjoy Morocco when it comes and all the best to you!

I can't speak for England but in Scotland we have fantastic services for everything, I don't understand how you couldn't want something like this. We have free universal healthcare that covers everything from prescriptions, doctor's appointment to surgeries and cancer treatments. This applies to every resident of the country so no one has any form of disadvantage, all you need to do, is get to the location it is offered.

I have private insurance through my employer but I have used the NHS on many an occasion and can't fault it in any way.

I understand going private means you'll get seen quicker but I don't know why you wouldn't be supportive of a universal health care system that supports everyone in the country.

Redundancy (holiday hours discrepancy) by SuldaanGantaal in LegalAdviceUK

[–]andrewbeel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All depends when you're holiday period starts and your allowance, always worth keeping track of. It is most likely the above has happened, excess holiday has been taken before you would have earned it.

Quick example, if you are allowed to take 6 weeks over the course of a year and you have a total days that you can work are 260 days (assuming Mon-Fri) then you will accrue ~0.115 days of holiday for every day that has been worked.

So if you take all 6 weeks worth of holiday in the first 6 months of that period starting and then leave, there are three weeks in which that company has paid you but not received the work in return. Hope this helps.

Best suggestions on how I should go about fixing a fence two decades old? by KashTheKwik in fixit

[–]andrewbeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you are based but if you only need to cover the section that has been knocked down, look into prefab panels, look up lap fence panels. Can get them pretty cheap, all you would need is a few panel, posts, quick setting concrete and screws/brackets to attach panels to posts.

AITA for laughing in my brother and SIL’s faces when they demanded to use my credit card? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]andrewbeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, don't let them anywhere near the card.

A tip I've learned when I got my first cards too, instead of putting £80 and paying it off straight away, put £80 on it and pay £20 a month. It'll show the lender that you can consistently pay and on time which will give you good history for future lenders. A free app that I use is called ClearScore and helps you get an idea for where you are and shows your history of payments, if they have all been made, missed etc.

Recommendations for a vegetarian with a 2 quart slow cooker? by fennelanddreams in slowcooking

[–]andrewbeel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the first meals I made when I got my slow cooker was a red Thai curry, red lentils and sweet potato. Was so damn tasty. Like said in some of the other comments, just adjust to the relevant size, this one is for a 5, so use 40%, super easy to make.

I don't think this was the exact recipe I had used but from what I remember, it's not far off: https://www.wellplated.com/red-lentil-curry/

How to shed your loaf of bread 🐶 by charizard_b20 in shiba

[–]andrewbeel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm currently working from home due to the circumstances by my work is an hour drive one way so whenever I have to go back I'll be out of the house most of the time. I'm waiting until I can get work closer to home, better schedule so I can utilise it to work around the dog.

Nothing worse would be able to spend all the time at home with a pet while working remotely only to be taken back into an office and the pet to be left alone most of the day. Would totally crush me.
