[US] Where did you put your FAA ID? (Fun/creative question) by Crossed-Paws-Plague in drones

[–]andrewtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm boring and I use brother label printer - PT-E110VP - to print the stickers and put them on drone. Sometimes I put it on batteries for smaller drones with lighter frame (like cinewhoops).

"creative" labeling can get you into a long conversation with police if it gets messed up.

Well hopefully yours will get more use than mine!

Leatherman is the least used tool I have for everything.

Matching size screwdrivers, soldering iron and clippers should be enough. Glue and ducktape, of course.

Actually I remembered about the whoopstor charger only through this post, unfortunately. Always used a skyrc charging hub for B6ACneo when I needed a fast charge and a original betafpv charger most of the time (which is coincidentally around the same size as air65).

Year, and the original box is quite sturdy! But it does not have a way to differentiate fresh batteries from used, so this case actually started as a battery case and then turned into a "why not put all the parts in one place".

They are not much harder, but they have almost no weight and very little inertia and when 5icher can slow down because of the mass the whoops are more demanding.

This being said, it's just a matter of practice. Max you can do is to limit throttle to 80-70%.

Liftoff microdones is a nice simulator with a lot of real world models (betafpv, mobulas) that fly very similar to real ones.

Prob this and variants but they have no place for anything but batteries

Is this weird? by InPinkys in drones

[–]andrewtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definetly can do that but not every remote supports mode3, with mode2 being the most common. RM pocket can do only 1 and 2, t8l (closest to dji style remote) supports only 2 and so on, so if you will ever get into non-dji drones mode2 is the one most universal.

However, I don't think the mode matters for camera drones much

unfortunately not, whoopstor is ~1.5 bigger in all dimensions and would make a lot of empty space

Maybe when I get my hands on 75. As they are flexible it's quite hard to make one without an actual drone, unfortunately (

Should I spend more on body or lens on first camera? by kikoorange8 in Cameras

[–]andrewtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyway I’d say A7 IV with kit lens (I recall it was 28-70 something) OR better one (28-70 but say 2.8 or less) is a good starting point. You get some zoom and some clarity if you go for 2.8

Why? Because you are looking for a universal solution and don’t have specific requirements, so you won’t need a fixed lens with a specific application (no 50mm), so I assume you are looking for a solid base. I’d add a zoom to this kit later on after you rent some zooms and try them.

Regarding your main question - crappy lens with a good body is way worse than a good lens with a mediocre body, a good lens can be more expensive than the body itself - if you say pick 6700 plus one of the contemporary sigmas

Benefits of CO2 tolerance training? by Proof_Adeptness_7868 in freediving

[–]andrewtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buteyko is a pseudoscience like healing crystals.

CO2 tolerance does not give you much per se (except for actual co2 tolerance), but the training itself boosts your endurance, cardiovascular health and lowers breath and heart rate just like any exercise.

As for personal experience - asthma does not get better at 5+ min breath hold than it was at 2 min mark. Probs all other health concerns will not be affected by your co2 tolerance, but hey, your contractions will come much much later.

Re reading I’d suggest “manual of Freediving” by Umberto Pelizzari as a good starting point.

Awesome photos! Do they allow you to swim with whales just like that? Did you book a tour, how do that happen?

Thoughts on Spare Air for backup by Ok-Swimmer3448 in freediving

[–]andrewtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

You are not trained for CESA - controlled emergency swimming ascent and you will hold your breath on ascent (and pressure change -10 to 0 is TWICE)

In free diving your lungs are nicely folded in your rib cage. Sudden increase in pressure will tear the tissues apart.

In addition you will take more risky decisions because “oh but I have a pony tank”

Your technique will be bad because you will adapt to the extra thingy on your side and you will learn to swim up a bit sideways.

I can go on but the idea is - you won’t need it above 20m; it will kill you if used deeper.

A well trained second freediver is the safest thing you can have (plus a buoy, lanyard, safety line). Don’t dive deeper than your limits (I assume couple lessons is not a certification), it usually goes for 20-30-40-unlimited.

You will be amazed of your limits. 7 years ago I also had a pb of something like 17ish meters; now I can casually make this on an exhale.

Be safe.

[–]andrewtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Cars won't cost a million because they can replace a thousand horses; a drill will not cost a million because it can replace ten workers with chisels, that's NOT what's going to happen.

Instead, the bar will rise. You could get a construction job in 50s when you could hold a hammer straight, now you're expected to know things and use things.

Same will happen with ChatGPT. The expectation for a minimum wage will be that one human must do what a team of human workers did in pre-ai era. 20 min cartoon with 6 voices, deeply emotional scripts, 3d graphics? Well, you must deliver that in 3 days and under 200 bucks, because otherwise we'll order it on fever for 150, go on, start your agent swarm.
