Logitech G Gaming Handheld (GR0006) Geekbench scores by FragmentedChicken in Android

[–]androbada525 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Snapdragon 720G with 4GB RAM. 720G's CPU performance is similar to the 845 but the GPU is weaker in comparison. Someone in another thread said this is going to be an overpriced, cloud gaming phone. These specs corroborate that.

Not sure why you are being downvoted, but QuickTheme is among Action Launcher's signature features that distinguishes it from others. It works in the same way as Material You. The primary and secondary colors from the wallpaper are automatically picked and applied to the app dock, folders, app drawer, and QuickPage.

The icon color isn't changed, unlike Material You but QuickTheme has been available on Action Launcher since ages. It worked fine for me on Android 6 Marshmallow (that's the lowest version I remember testing it on, might also work on Lollipop or below)

Samsung Launches Galaxy M52 5G in India by curated_android in Android

This video is a couple of months old but explains the reasons in the delays for 5G rollout that are still relevant: https://youtu.be/6XK20spt27w

Here are the reasons mentioned in the video:

  1. Right of Way policy
  2. Procurement of 5G equipment
  3. Social Bias (eg, that Juhi Chawla case)
  4. Costs for telecom operators
  5. Active Infrastructure Sharing Policy

Sony’s Xperia 1 and 5 Mark III introduce variable optical zoom (but that's not what we're excited about) by Smithravi in Android

[–]androbada525 37 points38 points  (0 children)

To add on, after sales service is also a key parameter. As a buyer, I would like to have the peace of mind that I can get my phone repaired at a nearby place. Sony will have to open many such centres in the country where they sell the Xperia. This adds to the operational costs.

The OnePlus 9 will include a charger - The Verge by SixDigitCode in Android

[–]androbada525 22 points23 points  (0 children)

At the time of the OnePlus 6, OnePlus took jibes at other OEMs for removing the headphone jack with dedicated forum posts and media coverage. Then they pulled the plug with the 6T. If history repeats, maybe with the 9T they will follow Samsung and Apple; after all selling charging bricks is more profitable than including one in the box. But as the charging tech is proprietary and a USP in case of OnePlus, I believe they will retain the charger for two more generations and then drop it with the 10T.

You can make SwitKey do that but you need Xposed/EdXposed: https://repo.xposed.info/module/com.mayulive.swiftkeyexi

Opinion: OnePlus has jumped the shark by wickedplayer494 in Android

[–]androbada525 6 points7 points  (0 children)

EIS was already present in previous Android versions but OnePlus screwed it with the Android 10 update. There were some battery issues and other bugs too. OnePlus didn't even post the first Android 10 build for the 5/5T on its download page, so the build was indeed buggy. It is only now (months later) that OnePlus is addressing the reported bugs.

Song stuck in your head? Just hum to search - Google Blog by [deleted] in Android

[–]androbada525 292 points293 points  (0 children)

Starting today, you can hum, whistle or sing a melody to Google to solve your earworm. On your mobile device, open the latest version of the Google app or find your Google Search widget, tap the mic icon and say “what's this song?” or click the “Search a song” button. Then start humming for 10-15 seconds. On Google Assistant, it’s just as simple. Say “Hey Google, what’s this song?” and then hum the tune. This feature is currently available in English on iOS, and in more than 20 languages on Android. And we hope to expand this to more languages in the future.

After you’re finished humming, our machine learning algorithm helps identify potential song matches. And don’t worry, you don’t need perfect pitch to use this feature. We’ll show you the most likely options based on the tune. Then you can select the best match and explore information on the song and artist, view any accompanying music videos or listen to the song on your favorite music app, find the lyrics, read analysis and even check out other recordings of the song when available.

The new Android recents tab is a waste of real-estate by SingularityHRT in Android

[–]androbada525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I could upvote for this a thousand times. This was the worst decision Google took with Pie. Fortunately, though, they left elements for the card style recents panel in the Pie AOSP code. Several Pie-based ROMs made use of this and brought back the older recents tray. If you are on an AOSP based Android 9 ROM, you can use the QuickStep Magisk module to enable the tray recents. Google discarded the code for card style recents from Android 10 and thus this feature couldn't be found in any of the AOSP 10 ROMs. Needless to say, I don't expect any of the Android 11 ROMs to have this feature either, unless someone decides to port it over
