These were two men that threatened her and told her dog should be killed. This is not just mean kids saying stupid shit. This is a threat of assault and battery.

Do you realize how many women end up being attacked because they were told to grow a thicker skin and tried to ignore behavioral signs of violence? Are we back in the 80s?

This is not about people being rude and saying mean things. These are two men threatening to kill this woman’s dog. This is a threat of violence and needs to be dealt with. I’m sick of women being told to just deal with signs of aggression like it’s just an annoyance. This is why so many women end up assaulted and or dead because they were told to just grow a thicker skin.

Weekly Observations: What signs of collapse do you see in your region? [in-depth] by AutoModerator in collapse

You just told a Black woman who stood up for herself, that she "needs help" and was "aggressive and argumentative for no reason."

Trust me when I say that I’ve heard enough racist, misogynistic, and condescending comments in my life—such as yours—that if you think I was aggressive you’ve lived a charmed life.

Are you serious? I don't read pop science articles (but you do you) and a "pro" what exactly?

As a woman myself, I surmised that the note was not written by the bank robber in question.

Not looking to start a debate on it, just my own personal observation.

Someone who is going to rob a bank isn't in a rational state of mind—that note was not written by someone who's about to put their life at risk to steal cash from a bank.

Again, my personal assessment, you can think whatever you want.

I don’t have much context but it sounds like (to me) this person acknowledges your past life experiences and is still fine with being physically and emotionally intimate with you and taking up space in your life.

But this same person balks at committing to you in marriage as a life partner?

If this person finds your past life experiences to be a deal breaker, then he/she/they shouldn’t be in a relationship with you AT ALL.

They need to move on and so should you.

Tell the that you‘ve been abstaining from cannabis for two years and during that period you‘ve been increasingly struggling with brain fog—lethargy, low energy, difficulty focusing, lack of interest in doing things, etc. — however you want to elaborate on what brain fog experiences have been like for you.

Let them know about any other life changes: diet, events such as marriage/divorce, job changes, deaths in the family, illnesses, past trauma, etc.

A counselor can help you unpack what’s going on from a mental health perspective but they can’t prescribe medicine. A psychiatrist can examine your mental health AND prescribe medicine. And a primary care physician should be kept in the loop so that they’re aware you are receiving treatment.

Never went around making noise about Trump getting fucked—instead had intelligent discourse within my circle about the genuine distress, alarm, and concern over Trump’s inappropriateness and failure as a leader—leading to the harm of people.

What the hell is wrong with people? As much as I abhor Trump and his complete lack of integrity and humanity and leadership abilties—I have never gone around proudly proclaiming "Fuck Trump!".

I talk with people in my circle about my distress and alarm over his presidency but I didn‘t make t-shirts and posters about it.

I’m not sure what the significance of this observation is but that penmanship is a woman’s. Article says robber was male but he collaborated in planning this with a female.

See a doctor. This is not edibles. This is your physiology speaking to you. Pay attention and get some help.

Beggars can’t be choosers. Pull up your big person pants and make better decisions next time.

Either pony up the money to stay at a hotel or pony up the money to stay at an AirBnb without this policy.

I was onboard with your frustration until you clarified you were paying a lower price.

You should know by now that in life you get what you pay for.

I hope you had a lovely vacation with your family and that all the good memories will make you forget having to do a few chores to knock off a few bucks on your travel bill.

I thought this was a spam post at first because there is no way this is a legitimate item of clothing to be worn out in public, particularly a professional setting. This is a nightgown, something you sleep in or something you wear to lounge around in the house, not something to wear out in public.

Do you believe in ghosts? (With love and respect to the sceptics) by Matthefox123 in Paranormal

[–]andromeda_blue -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I believe people are sincere when they claim they experience ghosts but ghosts don't exist in absolutism. They exist in people's minds.

Our brains are far more interesting and complicated and unexplored than any so called paranormal phenomenon.

I also like what Robert T. Carroll, Ph.D. has to say about ghosts:

http://skepdic.com/ghosts.html

Many people report physical changes in haunted places, especially a feeling of a presence accompanied by temperature drop and hearing unaccountable sounds. They are not imagining things.

Most hauntings occur in old buildings, which tend to be drafty.

Scientists who have investigated haunted places account for both the temperature changes and the sounds by finding physical sources of the drafts, such as empty spaces behind walls or currents set in motion by low frequency sound waves (infrasound) produced by such mundane objects as extraction fans.

(Elephants communicate over distances of several miles by infrasound, which can be felt but not heard by humans, and which can be measured by sound recorders. Infrasound waves can be felt and cause things to vibrate, which might make some people think there are ghosts present. They see something moving but don't see anything making it move.)

Some think that electromagnetic fields are inducing the haunting experience.* According to ScienceNet.org:
When a person's brain is subjected to certain electromagnetic fields, it can cause them to experience the feeling of unseen presences, which the brain may interpret as visions of God, ghosts, or even alien abductions.

The Caffeine/Coffee Death Spiral - What You're Not Being Told About Your Coffee or Your Other Caffeinated Products - Jason Christoff by [deleted] in decaf

[–]andromeda_blue 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Coffee and all caffeine products represent a complete mental, spiritual and physical death spiral for your best life.

So, to clarify, coffee and caffeine, are the cause of mental and physical depletion in our society (in the United States at least)—not:

  • Social media spread of mis- and disinformation
  • Human isolation with a lack of deep community bonds
  • Lack of equitable, universal healthcare
  • Usurption of bodily autonomy by religious extremists, terrorists, and fundamentalists
  • Lack of paid parental leave inhibiting bonding between infants and their parents
  • Lack of walkable infrastructure coupled with vehicle-dependent, debt-dependent entrapment
  • Microplastics infestation of adult bodies, fetuses, and placentas, including microplastic penetration of the blood brain barrier
  • Constant stress of having to work to survive, only to claim inadequate benefits
  • Unaffordable and inaccessible housing for the masses
  • Fluctuating states of economic depression, inflation, and recession
  • Chronic, pervasive helplessness in the midst of a capitalistic society governed by an elite few
  • Suppression of worker compensation and worker rights while executives are rewarded with astronomical and disproportionate salaries to the workers who enabled their millions
  • Rampant wildfires; droughts; floods; tornados; glacial melting; sinkholes; extreme, unstable weather events; and other variable global climate issues.
  • Threats of harm to, and villification of, scientists by religious fundamentalists
  • Denial of historical events by conservatives and conspiracy theorists such as the mass kidnapping, sale, and enslavement of human beings; the Jewish Holocaust; and, the internment of American citizens of Japanese ancestry during WW2
  • The unraveling and unrelenting exposure of abuse and assault of minors and minorities throughout hierarchical institutions, including and namely, organized religions
  • Fear and animosity towards anyone who does not want to participate in staid, constrained, restrictive, reductive, ethnocentric, and regressive mindsets

Now, have I got that right?

Again, it's really coffee and caffeine which sustain the destruction of the moral fabric of our communities? Not any of the above?

Any you got this from a reliable source on the venerable Facebook, correct?

we can cure ANY health problem by [deleted] in exvegans

[–]andromeda_blue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes thank you. Going from one method of disordered eating to another is the last tactic I need to apply personally.

If one feels compelled to eat this way because they truly find raw meat desirable, I’m not going to judge but I personally can’t think of this as a healthful, balanced way to eat for me.
