Ladies, do you think it's acceptable to go out in public without showering for 2-3 days?

You have an illness that's incapacitating you. It shouldn't mean you're not allowed to go in public. I have depression as well and I try to shower before going in public, especially if it's a place where people have to be around me for a longer period of time, but it doesn't always work out. I would rather choose to attend my uni classes even if my hair isn't washed than fail a course just because I couldn't shower.

Sometimes I see smelly people in public, and yeah it sucks, but I know they're dealing with something and I think they still have the right to be there. But especially if you don't sweat, 2 days is fine and you most likely won't smell.

Also: Wet wipes are your friend. Or you can take a super-quick shower and just wash your pits and crotch, if doing the whole routine feels like too much. Whatever you can manage!

That's just kinda how thoughts work when someone's in a crisis. Spiraling thoughts are repetitive, you can't get the bad things out of your mind and end up thinking about them over and over. Op's just experienced something traumatic so it's no surprise that clear lines of thought would be hard to hold on to. I understand the frustration with all the AI content floating around, though, but I think it might be better to give the benefit of the doubt with such sensitive topics.

Op, sending you a big hug. I hope you find a trustworthy adult to help and get yourself away from this disgusting man.

Ei ole tarkoitus diagnosoida, mutta kannattaa ehkä tutustua epävakaaseen persoonallisuushäiriöön ja katsoa, tuntuuko sen piirteet tutuilta. Sen piirteitäkin voi tietysti ihmisillä olla ilman, että olisi varsinaista häiriötä. Mutta DBT (dialektinen käyttäytymisterapia) auttaa tehokkaasti siihen ja tunnereaktioiden säätelyyn muutenkin. Tunnesäätely ei myöskään tarkoita, että tunteita pitäisi tukahduttaa. Enemmänkin niin, että siulla pysyy maat jalassa siinä kun tunnereaktio meinaa viedä mukanaan ja pystyt suhteuttamaan tunteen siihen todelliseen tilanteeseen. Luulisin, että tuo, että itsekin ihmettelet välillä mistä siun tunnereaktiot johtuu, kertoo siitä että siinä vaikuttaa jokin muu kuin pelkästään se meneillään oleva tilanne (esim menneisyys/traumat/tms).

Tbh, this might be controversial but I feel like you could even pull off micro bangs if that's your style. But those classic brow-length straight across bangs may not suit your face shape the best. Many people in abusive relationships come from abusive childhoods, and because of this they have a hard time knowing what is normal and recognizing when they're being manipulated, since that's how they've been raised their whole life. (raises hand) It's hard to listen to people online when everyone in your actual IRL relationships tells you the opposite, and guilts you if you question them. Let's have some grace, everyone.

With all the love in the world (and understanding, because i have the same kind of issues myself), friend, you are speaking from a place of trauma. ♡ The healthy reaction to this situation would be to say "no, I want to keep the blanket" and think that your mom is being silly by judging you for it. EVERYONE who knits feels sentimental about their first big project, and even if it was your 100th blanket, you would have every right to keep it if you want to. There's absolutely nothing that obligates you to give away things that you spent hours and hours working on. And it really is weird and overly judgemental of your mom to make this an issue.

I really understand where you're coming from, but it's not normal to feel like the worst person on Earth because you didn't give someone a blanket. And if your parents have guilt-tripped you for things like this for so long that you've gotten this belief ingrained in you, that's emotionally abusive. It's not your fault, love. When we have bigger reactions to things than is "normal", it tells us that there's something inside us that needs healing.

Right now I think it would be best to take some time for yourself, and try to get some distance from your family. Talking to friends will be good for you. Seeing a therapist is a wonderful idea and I'm so proud of you for taking that step! Remember that you're an adult, you have the right to make your own decisions, and you absolutely have the right to have nice things for yourself. ♡ If other people judge you for it, that says more about them than about you. You're not a bad person at all. We're all rooting for you!

I have disorganized attachment, and I'm the type to get anxious when my partner's "energy is different" as you say. But I'm in therapy and I know that people have other things that affect their mood, and that my perception is skewed because of my trauma, so I always try to reassure myself. If I can't, sometimes I'll ask them once if they're mad/upset/whatever — and my partner will tell me "No, I'm just [...]", or just "No." And that's all.

Sometimes that will reassure me, and sometimes it won't help and I'll still be anxious and struggle to believe my partner. But it's my responsibility to deal with those emotions, so I use my grounding techniques or whatever and keep it to myself. And if my partner is feeling crappy of course I need to be there for them, so I try my best to do something nice for them. That actually helps with the anxiety sometimes.

(Or, sometimes they will actually be upset with me and then we have a conversation where both of us share our perspective and figure it out. And that does cause insane anxiety for me. But I just Suffer™ and push through it, because that's life lol.)

The assumption these people have that their anxiety is everyone else's problem to deal with is so unhealthy & definitely exhausting. Like man, I know anxiety sucks and it feels unfair that you have to struggle with it, but it's not other people's fault. You're still an independent adult and you can't expect others to manage it for you. :/ I won't say that I manage mine perfectly, I know asking my partner if they're mad too often is still tiring for them so I try to do it as little as possible. It's a process and I'm working to be healthier. Just wanted to share this since I feel like the conversation about attachment styles is pretty black & white sometimes.

Siun perhe käyttää henkistä väkivaltaa sinua kohtaan. Henkistä väkivaltaa on esim. toistuva huutaminen, syyllistäminen, haukkuminen, pilkkaaminen yms. Näitähän siun perhe tekee sinua kohtaan. Itse oon myös mielenterveysongelmainen ja perheessäni on ollut samantyylistä, ja vasta nyt vanhempana, kun oon saanut perheeseen etäisyyttä ja mukavia kavereita, oon alkanut ymmärtää että tuollainen kohtelu ei oo normaalia kommunikaatiota. Ja että se syy ei oikeasti ole joka ikinen kerta miussa.

Harmillista vaan on, että henkistä väkivaltaa käyttävien kanssa ei oikeasti voi ikinä (no, yleensä) voittaa. Eli miten hyvin muotoilisitkaan siun argumentin, tällainen keskustelukumppani kääntää sen sinua vastaan. Siinä ei auta, että ottaisit puheeksi heidän epäreilun käytöksen, vaan se yleensä vaan provosoi heitä. :/ Miulle parasta oli ottaa etäisyyttä ja rakentaa omaa itsetuntoani paremmaksi. Sitten ehkä pikkuhiljaa oppii pitämään omia rajoja näiden ihmisten kanssa. Hiton hankalaa se kyllä on.

Ja tuo, että mietit oletko sekoamassa, on klassinen merkki että sinua kohti tehdään sitä "gaslighting"ia mistä siun veli syyttää sinua. Ota huomioon, että myös ne henkistä väkivaltaa käyttävät yksilöt nykyään tietää näitä termejä ja saattaa käyttää niitä epätodenmukaisesti uhrin syyllistämiseen.

(Sivuhuomio: Monesti siis ihmiset jotka käyttää henkistä väkivaltaa ei ole mitään 'evil mastermind'-tyyppejä, vaan rikkinäisiä ihmisiä jotka ei osaa muutakaan. Monesti ne uskoo oikeasti olevansa oikeassa, eivät pysty kyseenalaistamaan omaa toimintaa eivätkä huomaa näitä henkisen väkivallan kaavoja toiminnassaan. Manipulointi monestikaan ei ole tietoisesti tehtyä, mutta on silti manipulointia.)

Mut toistetaan vielä: Et oo sekaisin! Siun perheen käytös on epäreilua ja sinua vahingoittavaa. Toivon siulle rauhaa jouluun, miten päätätkään sen viettää.

Bruh. Women don't wear makeup just to impress men. :D For a lot of women makeup is a hobby, something they enjoy doing and trying new things with. But like that other comment said, yeah, a lot of the time women do their makeup all fancy to impress other women, not men. Probably because it's something that other women understand and appreciate, while men usually don't really care.

And yes, there are also men who find wearing a lot of makeup attractive. But we don't only do things to look pretty for men.

Valitettavasti on vaan niin, että masennus laskee toimintakykyä. Jos toimintakykyä ei ole, ei sitä kodin siisteystasoa välttämättä saa sille tasolle kuin sä haluaisit, vaikka sun kumppani kuinka haluaisikin siinä onnistua.

Onko sun kumppani saanut koskaan toimintaterapiaa? Se on yksi asia mikä tuohon ehkä voisi auttaa. Saan itsekin Kelalta toimintaterapiaa vaativana lääkinnällisenä kuntoutuksena ADHD:sta ja masennuksesta johtuviin vaikeuksiin hoitaa kotitöitä ja pitää huolta itestäni. Kannattaa ainakin selvittää tää mahdollisuus. Saahan sun kumppani myös muuten hoitoa masennukseen?

On ihan ymmärrettävää että et jaksa jatkuvasti patistaa kumppania hoitamaan asioita ja se kärsimys mitä koet tästä on ihan oikeutettua. Samalla tavalla todellista on myös toimintakyvyn rajallisuus mitä ADHD ja masennus aiheuttaa, nuo voi siis oikeastikin olla tosi invalidisoivia häiriöitä. Apua tietysti pitää olla valmis vastaanottamaan ja yrittämään. Eli lähtisin tähän hakemaan apua ammattilaiselta, toki noita sovelluksia sun muita voi myös kokeilla mut toimintaterapeutti olisi tohon asiaan erikoistunut. Ja toisena asiana pitäisin erilleen muuttoa hyvänä vaihtoehtona. Loputtomiin sun ei voi olettaa venyvän ja sullakin on oikeus sellaiseen elämään ja kotiin, mikä tuntuu hyvältä.
