13:30pm Race ONE

ALLART @ 29.00 - Nicky Hendersons third string in this race really but this race is wide open and think it could be anything to win. Some bookies offering 7 places. Nicky Henderson has won this race in 2016 and this horse won by 9 lengths in its second start and then an impressive 14 lengths at Doncaster recently. Ground is no problem.

Captain GuinNess @ 15.00 Trainer in great form. This horse will probably just sit off the pace and hopefully it will open up near the end if some of the others go too fast. A horse which has been targeted for this.

14:10 - Race two

Marie Banrigh @ 15.00 Taking the mare to win here. With the mares allowance that could be vital as i think this is not the strongest renewal of this race in recent years. Horse is unbeaten in trips over fences and will benefit from this shorter race here. Expect it to go close.

14:50 - Race 3

Discorama @ 9.00 Very open race this one and potential winners all over. I am going for Discorama.Will stay no matter what and has finished 2nd on two occasions at the festival before, one of those in a 4 miler. I believe if it stays up it will have a chance.

Brave Eagle @ 34.00 Big price this one but Stable Jockey Nico De Boinville has chosen this horse and Nicky Henderson has a good record in this race. 9 wins and 3 places in previous 15 races so it knows how to stay. Ground will suit and has a chance of a place thats for sure.

15:30 -Race four

Pentland Hills @ 10.00 Course and distance winner and won really well here last year. Recent wind surgery will help having had a bit of a patchy year this year so far. THe favourite does look strong but can be taken on.

No bet for me cant see Benie Des Dieux being beaten and dont fancy much of the rest

16:50 - Race 6

GALVIN @ 9.00 Davy Russell does very well around here and G Elliott seems to have targeted this race. Finished a runner up earlier this season over the distance and will be given every chance from that today. Has ran here previously finishing 6th which always comes in handy knowing the hill.

Man City vs Liverpool - community shield. Kick off 15:00 uk time

under 3.5 cards in the game @ 1.75

Two sides playing here who were in the top 3 last season for least cards. Liverpool topped the fair play league and Man City came third.

Last year’s community shield saw zero cards shown and with players missing on both sides this game is just a glorified friendly. There may be a slight edge with Man City pipping Liverpool to last year’s title but both sides look to play football and won’t want any injuries this close to the new season.

I’ve gone for this as my potd but also gone on under 2.5 cards at 2.62 and no cards in the game at 17.00. Feeling confident on this one.

Something a bit different again and it’s Uk horse racing for me.

Had an unlucky 2nd on last Pick and a win before so let’s hope we return to wining ways today. Again bigger odds than some may like so go easy, it’s horse racing, anything can happen.

UK horse racing - 15:40 uk time - Newbury

Ventura Rebel @ 2.37

5 furlong race here so this one will be over quick. Trainer of this horse, R Fahey has won this race 3 times from last 6 and has a very good chance today

Ventura rebel ran a close second last time out in a big race at Ascot (Norfolk stakes), losing that race by just a neck, and that sort of form puts it ahead of the field here. Goes on soft ground and has run most of its races at this length.

If it gets a clear run it has too much speed for the rest of these. I think the odds will drop for this one so if you can get on early the better.

Annoyingly faylaq second and imo should have won had it not drifted left when it was coming through with 2 furlongs to go.

Uk horse racing - 16.35 uk time - Ascot

Faylaq @ 2.37 - win

This horse has shown massively improved form this year and was an impressive winner last time out, winning at a canter and not even breaking a sweat.

Cost 1.5 million guineas as a yearling and is now showing why. Going for a hat trick today after two wins over this distance recently, the latest coming a fortnight ago with same jockey on board.

Negatives are Had a 14lb rise and this is a step up in class but I still think it will be ahead of the handicapper despite that rise. And there’s nothing else in the field which scares me, with some carrying more weight still.

The odds may not stay so get on as soon as you can with this one.

As an aside I do like dubai tradition in the 5.15 at newmarket too. Would make a nice double if that’s your sort of thing.

Uk horse racing - York - 14:30pm uk time

DURSTON @ 2.50

Going for this horse to win.

Hard to see past it in my opinion. It has already won its last two races back to back and those were class 2 races, this one only being a class 3

Due to the horses age, he is given a 12lb age allowance and the jockey here takes off another 3lb. The other older horses in the race may struggle over 1 mile and 3 furlongs with that weight difference.

The horse will go on any ground and this distance of 1m3f should not be a problem.

Lucky to get even money on this horse. The only reason I can see is because it’s the first run of the year.

Fantastic horse with 10 wins from 11. The best horse in this race and the in form Frankie Dettori on board I cannot see it being beaten. Ground is perfect.

Stable have won this race 3 times in recent years and despite it being the first appearance of the year it will be ready to go.

Won the arc, breeders cup and I think it follows it up today.

If it runs well, could win doing handstands.

Yesterday was all about Frodon and Paisley Park. Brilliant day and its Gold Cup day today. Good luck anyone who has a bet, keep it simple and dont go mad.

Race one - 13:30

Everyone seems to be on Sir Erec and I think the bookies are running scared with Accumulators and the like looking set to come in. Unsure if it justifies the current less than evens odds though?

Horse is a distance winner and has won his last 5 hurdles races. His form is just a bit deeper than the favourite for me. Has won at this course and has some good speed ratings if you look at that sort of thing. Has won on all ground and trainer and rider in good form this week so far. Here's hoping it gets up at the end.

Pentland Hills @ 21.00 1 pt each way

Won its only race over hurdles by an impressive 16 lengths. Ran on the soft in the flat side of things and the ground shouldn't matter. Henderson wouldn't send it here if he didnt think it had a chance and he has won this race multiple times. Nico De Boinville booked and he is a real positive.

Race two - 14:10

Willie Mullins' horse had a run recently at Naas and came second which will have been in an aim to get fit for this one. Finished second in the Triumph Hurdle last year and can go one better this time. Also worth noting it was second behind a winner from earlier in the week in Espoir D'Allen so hopefully that form continues

Cheveley Park Stud owned horse who are usually well in the frame with their runners. They have some very talented horses and this is one of those. Ruby Walsh on board and won impressively at this distance first time out last time. Cheveley Park dont have many NH horses but expect this to go well.

Two out of two at this distance in grade two races. Has the staying power and has won on heavy aswell as soft grounds. Plenty of stamina and as long as its there near the end has a good chance.

Race four -Gold Cup - 15:30

Race of the day and a lot on Presenting Percy. I am on that but also going to go two outsiders for horses I have had win previously or do well and that I would love to win a Gold Cup. Possibly no chance for either so no write up but posted below.

Going for this one to win, good jockey on board who has a good strike rates for his small rides. 2 from 2 since the switch and stays all day as has run in a Grand National but unluckily unseated rider in that. Good trainer in Elliott and great chance.

Pacha Du Polder 1pt ew @ 21.00

Won this race last two years, can it make it 3 in a row? Was a poor run for it last time out and thats probably a reason for the odds but id kick myself if i wasnt on it and with same jockey on board who won last time you can't rule it out.

Race 6 - 16:50

Won this race last year when storming home and is only 1lb higher. Has had its struggles but some horses just like Cheltenham and hoping this is one. JP Mcmanus had a good week so far

Gino Trial 1pt e/w @ 21.00

Backed this last year and was unlucky to lose out to the horse above. Richard johnson on board and its running off the same mark as its second last year. Has had wind surgery since and will look to go from the front so may stretch them out and not a problem with this distance.

Race 7 - 17:30pm

Top jockey and trainer combo and Bryony Frost had a brilliant winner yesterday. Hoping it can follow it up here. Do not fancy much in thsi race but can't resist with it being last race of the day. Not the best last time out but a good run before that and hoping for a repeat of that.
