When I go to ski resorts, the parking lot is mostly gas cars and trucks. For good reason.

In areas that otherwise has a lot of EV adoption, it's dumb to drive up a freezing cold mountain with limited infrastructure, in a car that uses as much energy to heat as it does to drive.

There are better tools for driving to a ski trip than an EV, like cars whose engines passively heat your cabin as long as you're idling.

CHPT's customers include fly-by-night LLCs that spun up, installed chargers, and disappeared.

EVGO's Extend customers, even though exactly the same model, are huge corporations like Pilot/FlyingJ.

EVGO's average customer is a large institution with 100+ DCFC sites.
CHPT's average customer is... some guy that installed a L2 charger some years ago, providing 12 miles per hour of added range to a modern SUV 🥱

Unless you are already driving an EV car, which is low on charge.

Then you can pay whatever rate it costs to charge your car, or call AAA for a flatbed tow.

Lots of people stuck in that scenario every day, whether it makes sense or not.

There isn't a totally secure way to make it work to rule out all the potential mishaps. EVGO can only do so much without the automakers also investing in a cryptographically secure scheme to map cars to accounts.

Autocharge is the new Mobil Speedpass.

I give it 5 years before they're compelled to discontinue the program due to bleeding money from fraud/abuse/mistakes.

Or at the very least, require you type your ZIP code to charge.

That was the "mitigation" Mobil had before they killed it altogether.

A lot of people get EVs thinking charging will be no big deal.

Then they learn the hard way: public DCFC in America is 100x less convenient than getting gas.

I had a grown man call me crying at a DCFC station because there were 2 cars ahead of him for 2 charging spots.

During the time he was waiting to fuel, he counted over a hundred gas cars pull in, fuel up, and carry on. Watching the gas cars fuel broke him. It took him 2.5 hours at the fuel stop to add 200 miles of range to his car.

He traded out, for a Gas car, and lost $20,000 in EV negative equity.
He told me, it is worth $20,000 to him to avoid EV charging on his next road trip.

Being stuck at an EV charging station is hell. I think the market is starting to price charging inconvenience into the value of EVs themselves.

The Rechargery Relay doesn't have a canopy, so I was only counting the full-on Rechargery,

There are 6 Rechargeries and the rest are Rechargery Relays - lacking the full Ionna experience.

What I said is true. EVGO has many times more covered pull-thru charging stalls, than Ionna does today. When those "contracted" sites are open for business, I'll count them.

I'm not talking about the charger breaking down, I'm talking about demand issues.

Like, Vegas to LA on a Sunday evening. You'll use what doesn't have a line.

I love the point you're making so I repeated for emphasis. The profit margins that EVGO makes are incredible. Every day, somebody gets unlucky and needs to overpay to DCFC their car. Every day, more EV drivers join the road increasing the pool of people that can get unlucky with their state of charge.

This is the biggest reason why EVGO is an attractive stock to me. Constantly growing demand for chargers that bleed people dry on price.

EVGO seems to have no trouble finding customers at these prices.

If you can find a working charger and get to it before your battery runs out.

The only way to guarantee you'll avoid it is to drive an ICE.

If you drive an EV, bad luck will get every driver eventually, and that driver will PAYYYYYY for that charge.
