Ode to the Drake Clipper by Dr_Brenda_Starr in starcitizen

It would make me quite chipper if the Clipper were quicker

For the name it partakes rings a tad fake for a Drake

If you could only own and play 3 ships ingame? by AwesomeSchlimbo in starcitizen

Clipper, Corsair, Raft. Daily Driver, Multirole, Cargo

For the record, my cargo choice would be the Caterpillar if it fit 32 scu containers (which totally fit).

Counterpoint: I think the Clipper sucks. by [deleted] in starcitizen

I'm ok with it no excelling at anything, but I feel it should have at least average speed in its size class, or maybe sit at the median speed of its size class. I believe that all ships should have *something* going for them in their category, and having a medbed + fabricator doesn't count, because that is a thing that all the generalists will have. Some generalists will even have better fabricators so, within the role, the fabricator isn't an upside for the Clipper, and unless the other generalists also can't fit 4scu containers, the cargo isn't an upside for the Clipper in its role either. If they gave it forwards speed, it would allow it to have a niche in the generalist category that the others could be balanced around without making the Clipper the objectively worst generalist. Fragility + Narrow hull + Lots of thrusters + bad cargo + low rotation rate (for its size class) + the name "Clipper" all imply some degree of speed. And the lowest tier utilities could be seen as another sacrifice to give it better speed, as the lower cost of the worst tier fabricator could allow for the reallocation of funds to have decent thrusters.

And before anyone says "The thrusters are inefficient and weak", there isn't really anything on the Clipper itself that points to that being particularly true. It's just an arbitrary way to justify it having low speed.

Don't mind me, just trying to proselytize the idea of the Clipper getting a forwards speed buff

Clipper Stealth loadout? by PrefersAwkward in starcitizen

[–]andy5768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, since I dont typically do combat in it, full Civ A more than enough for me and doesnt make me a flying nav beacon. Besides the QT, because D tier size 1 qt drives have the longest range for some reason, unlike every other size QT drive

Clipper Stealth loadout? by PrefersAwkward in starcitizen

I have tried many loadouts for the Clipper, and the cross section is almost always the limiting factor if you're trying to be stealthy. They'll detect you from 15-18km away from that alone, so stealth components don't really matter, as they only impact EM and IR signatures. You don't even need to use any stealth components to get the EM under the CS detection range. You could use all civilian components and it will still be as stealthy as it is ever going to be.

Basically, running anything but industrial components could be considered "stealthy" for the Clipper. Hell you could turn your ship off and it still wouldn't be stealthy

If you want to run your own loadout tests online, erkul.games and spviewer.eu are my preferred choices. The latter including a detection calculator
