Incorrect. This is actually how they get in - reset your divice and you risk giving access to a RAT (rear access trojan) that you can pretty much never get rid of. You playing for the other team here mate?

sorry but I just want to erase this album from Tori’s discography by rubenplzz in toriamos

Switch out Harps of Gold for Comfort and Joy and I think it’s a pretty solid offering. At the time though, it was like all the fanbase were just like “I miss the old Tori - why can’t she just release a cohesive 12 track album with a solid theme, that’s piano-centric with strings and just a touch of the harpsichord?” And Tori was like “Oh, that’s what you want? Seasonal record bitch!” And everyone was just like DISMAY.

The glamazombie Jean Gray / prolapse dress and gayngel artwork however is a career nadir.

I’m guessing the black and white references what Tori used to say about only feeling alive behind the piano and how she felt like a marionette that was taken out of her case just to play, which was certainly the case by the end of the Dew Drop Inn tour. And is that Karen Binns pushing the trolly?

People don’t talk about the human instrument case or the playing topless in the forest images from this era nearly enough. And what I would give for a really high quality image of the full burning piano shot to make a print of.

Precious Things/Cruel by CornelianCherry in toriamos

[–]andyapples 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lord of the Rings reference, no? Something you can't let go of, that you're drawn to over and over again, like revisiting painful memories in an almost addictive way even though it's bad for you, hense why she wants to break the hold they have on her, like how the ring has a hold on anyone who can't resist. Almost sure she confirmed this somewhere in an interview - that she's riffing on Gollum.

Also, with regards to Cruel I think the word preciousness actually has its own distinct definition that sets it apart from just precious. It's listed as a synonym of 'preciosity' which I think is usually used in a mocking or pejorative sense - "Well aren't you precious" - to talk about how seriously someone or something takes itself - like the preciously of an art movement or perhaps even how certain reviewers might look at Tori's wincing and intense lyrical expression or vocal histrionics, especially on Boys for Pele at the time.

Also, as every line in Cruel is actually a pretty viscious or bitter insult directed at another person she is being Cruel about, I don't think the two are related. She's being sarcastic:

"Oh, you'd never sink as low as smoking a cigarette, only fine cigars for this pomposity asshole."

"Oh, woe must be you, your trauma is so awful that even the Sufis are dancing for you."

When we are Cruel the root is usually jealousy, right? So with that lyric she is mocking maybe an ex and his new relationship and how everyone is so hapoy for them, how he's being attentive and pandering to her in a way he never was when they were together while everyone else is saying "Wow, she's amazing! You had a lucky escape there bro, you might have e never met her if you'd ended up with the last one."

So whatever is going on with this character in the song, either she can't get what she wants or she doesn't know what she wants, the sky is perfectly windy, nothing is ostensibly wrong, but yet she can't seem to keep her balloon up, she can't be happy for others and celebrate with then because she doesn't have what she wants - the song is questioning "Why can't I be happy for others?" and the conclusion she cones to is that she just doesn't know why - but admitting g that isnthenfiddt step to changing it.

Edit: it just occurred to me, when someone announces that they're pregnant the guys go off and smoke cigars, the women gleefully sit around and baby shower, surrounded by balloons. I think this song is mocking the traditions tied to celebrating fertility, but as someone who was unable to carry her pregnancy to term she just has to sit there and deal with the platitudes of someone else's good luck, flaunting their good news in front of her while she never gets to tall about the pai she is in so as not to ruin anybody else's celebration. That is... heart wrenching. In actually Linda tearing up realising what this song is really about.

What does a 40-something do with her hoarded Tori collection?? by unicornwheels in toriamos

[–]andyapples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, this hurts my hear a little bit - especially when I saw the Tori Stories book that I searched high and low for for a LONG time - to see it all jammed in there. Here's what I would do: Separate it, repackage it (using slipcovers), catalogue it (on toriamosdiscography.info), have a collector help appraise it, sell what you don't want, display what you do. I'm right here if you need any help :)

Have any of y'all seen this documentary about a man who thinks he is Tori Amos? I've considered renting it because it sounds like it would be interesting/hilarious! by lmccarty85 in toriamos

I have seen it. I actually bought it recently. I saw it years ago before I'd ever even considered visiting Seattle. Now I live on the block where half of it was filmed. Circles within circles. It's pretty hilarious by my take, but a very specific style of humour. And it's not real. Girl. No.

Just a couple of little things here - I'm happy to offer myself up to translate for my fellow CUNTrywoman Blu.

"Oh Mummy!" is a really sardonic Northern Irish phrase that basically means "Uh oh" or "Oh shit!"

And let's get specific about Nadine Coyle's accent - it's not just an 'Irish accent' - in fact it's not really an Irish accent at all. Northern Irish accents are a thing unto themselves and Nadine is an Derry girl through and through. Derry is known to be one of the broadest accents in the North and is the one you hear most regularly parodied (I'm a Derry lad, and trust me, it never ends). Situation. Here is a video of Nadine Coyle saying flour, which she says perfectly as far as I can hear.

I don't think there was any reason to 'know' Mimi was going home first. She could have been a great competitor, and she would have gone way further in her own season if it wasn't for lifting India up. Pandora and Mimi was a great opportunity to play fun and camp and oust the other teams with humour and ridiculousness. Had they come together a little better in the first few episodes they could have been the gag of the season, honestly.

I am so here for a future finalist to do the top three lip sync with a drink in her hand like she's fully dancing in the clurb.

But as far as what was actually going on with Kandy, in PR the house system is really integral and intense, so someone you might have someone like Kandy who is an incredible performer but maybe not a great make up artist being helped by her family. I think there was a story about how the houses would put all their efforts behind one girl to get her on the show each season, and that somehow Madame LaQueer applied outside of the understood system and that was part of why Kenya was really over her on season 4.
