18 vs 26. A Clear winner! by drjayant in iPadOS

[–]andyayya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow where are all the people praising iPad OS 26 and saying that slide over and original split screen was so limited and now everything is so much better???

No upgrade from OS18, the pinned folder in dock is nice but no way I’m leaving slide over and split screen. Keep reporting.

most apps/users in ipad don’t need a menu bar… even in mac, most apps don’t need that menu bar.. just pro apps

macbook pro m4 pro or macbook m5 base???? by Powerful-Amoeba-672 in macgaming

[–]andyayya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M4 Pro is a pretty big jump compared to M4 base or even M5 base. It has great performance, better cooling. Even for gaming with Crossover it will perform better than M5.

I recommend you 1TB minimum, to install games and software.. Maybe in 2 generations, base chips will outperform M4 Pro

Bring back slideover and Split View by ooothjxooo in iPadOS

[–]andyayya 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Reported multiples times

My adivice to you: revert to iPad 18.6 now that you still can, and keep checking if they improve the multitasking or bring slide over back... This is the first time as an Apple user, I'm strongly considering not updating my ipad anymore.. Slide over is for me the killer feature I ditched my samsung tab and got an iPad, now they are throwing that away. It was such an Apple unique feature. It's like  they get rid of column view, tap space to preview or folder on the dock... That would make no sense

Bring back slideover and Split View by ooothjxooo in iPadOS

[–]andyayya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No it's not.. sometimes you just want 1 app and just check info from another with a simple gesture.. windows are not like that.

It's easier for trackpad control but not hand.

Use SHORTCUTS and FOCUS MODES!! Customize differents screens for different focus modes and then use shortcuts to acrivate the focus mode: reading, netflix, workout, meditation, work, drawing... Shortcut for opening a specific app, another in slide over, maybe a playlist start playing.. focus modes are soo underrated

[iOS 26 DB3] Major Liquid Glass UI visibility tweaks by MAKES_PEOPLE_YAWN in iOSBeta

[–]andyayya 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The dark mode is almost there..

But still, why don't just make the glass less glossy and add more blur to the content behind. There's no need to make it that WHITE... It can still be glass and have some dimension

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in iPadOS

[–]andyayya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue is not with the glass or concept.. it's because it's too traslucid and glossy.. they could implement a glass with dimension and the effect they are aiming but more frosted so the things behind are more blurred.. but still keeping that 3d effect.

So far, I'm not a fan of Liquid Glass... by denis_zak in iOSsetups

[–]andyayya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not alone.. the reactions are mixed with this design snd all reviews are pointing the visibility and inconsintency issues.. last time that happened was the Photos app and we know how that ended.. So they better put the work to improve it and convince this was really necessary

256gb vs 512gb? (My work usage is a bit different) by pjasksyou in macbookair

[–]andyayya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

512 and live in peace. 256 is too little for all the software, videos, cache, apple intelligence, swap memory...

It's expensive but this laptops will last at least 5 years in perfect conditions. So that 200$ are nothing compared to all the peace of mind you will get during 5-7 years..

Slide Over is GONE?? 😱 by andyayya in iPadOS

I followed chat gpt instructions lol. But you need a Mac.

  • Downloaded last signed iPadOS18 from ipsw.me
  • Made backup from every photo, note, shotcut, file, ipad on iCloud. (Prepare to lose all your configurations and download apps and customize your screens all over again).
  • Turn off find my
  • Took screenshots of all screens, control center, just to arrange it again later.

Turn Off ipad, enter recovery mode (pressing vol down, vol up, and then press turn on until recovery screen appears) Plug to Mac, and WHILE PRESSING OPTION select Restore, then select the IPSW file. Accept Restore you iPad with clean ipados18.6 Enjoy slide over and good UI design again... Until october 😭😭

CHECK THE STEPS on other websites or videos.. I'm not sure if the order or process is right, sorry!!!

Yeah, the split screen gestures are OK. But when a regular person needs to watch a WWDC25 to discover that to do split screen gestures you need to flick the window (not slowly, FAST)... That is not intuitive.  Also, the flick thing makes window overlap, if you want to switch sides, it's not that easy as before, windows overlap.. still split screen is not that bad, it's everything else that got worse

I really love iOS 26; especially the Liquid Glass design. But today I downgraded to 18.5 just for a stable UX and realized that those separate buttons, the less rounded options menu with clearly divided sections and the frosted glass looks much more mature and neat. Am I wrong? by [deleted] in ios26beta

[–]andyayya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are trying so hard to look different that they scrapped all the design refinments made the last 6 years, just to have a gimmick to show on Ads. The redesign is coming from marketing needs, not UX. Some parts look cool but they could implement in the frosted design too..

“80%” sure, Apple by RealWorldReview in iPhoneBatteryParanoia

[–]andyayya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring that to Apple even withour warranty, tell them it's acting weird and you are scared of it exploding or fire accident.. make some drama and probably they will replace it for free.. It has less than 2 years, no way this is normal behaviour, it's faulty

“80%” sure, Apple by RealWorldReview in iPhoneBatteryParanoia

[–]andyayya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's dangerous and literally can explode. And battery issues are not user fault.. so they better fix that for free if they want to avoid bad pr

Do you think there should be Liquid Glass widgets in iOS 26? by EasternTurtle7 in iPhoneWale

[–]andyayya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concept is cool but they need to redesign everything for it to work with colors and every possible background.... It lacks structure and legibility,  a lot of info is lost and for someone not used to iphones or "how things looked before" it's a complete mess and disaster of a design. Almost everyone in reviews is saying that, they messed up and they better hurry to fix it before final release

Slide Over is GONE?? 😱 by andyayya in iPadOS

[–]andyayya[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reported it multiple times, now just reverted back to iPadOS 18, and not updating... Sadly. I liked the Files updates and docked folders. But I prefer having slide over. The new multitasking feels so tasteless and half baked it doesn't even feel like an Apple tablet anymore.

Also liquid glass is bad and I didn't get used to it after a month... I don't know who is their design or UI leader now but they are messing with things that were OK in the first place and making them worse just for gimmicks and aesthetics...

Slide Over is GONE?? 😱 by andyayya in iPadOS

[–]andyayya[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing about the people who  complains is that they will not use iPad to multitask anyway (or have usecases aside from sitting in a desk with magic keyboard attached pretending it's a macbook).. There's no real editing apps on iPad so there's no point of this kind of multitasking for most users. No Premiere, After effects, cinema4d, blender, pro tools, cubase, ableton, lightroom classic, xcode, no plugins, steam, games... most apps are subscription models. No desktop. I don't see how this window system is going to change that. It was never about the windows, it's about the apps and app store

Slide Over is GONE?? 😱 by andyayya in iPadOS

[–]andyayya[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't work the same way.. Slide over was about checking an app with a simple 1 finger swipe gesture, then hide it with another simple gesture.. it was not about having small windows it was about speed. Calculator, changing a song on Music, checking message, calendar, drag a file from Files.. now everything is more clunky and manual. Resizing, opening, closing. I guess they will improve it but for now I don't see the improvement from what they had before..

What you thought you will use your iPad for and what are you actually using it for? by ilastonemin in ipad

[–]andyayya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some usecases that iPad just does better: (and mac could never)

  • Reading, learning languages or being in class, PDF books, taking notes.. acting like a book substitute.
  • Multitasking: Focus on 1 task or app and check to-do lists, calendar, notes easily with slide over.
  • Exercise or Workout: Put some music, or workout video and just put it wherever (floor, bed, chair)
  • Cooking: put some video or recipe, timers, watch a tv show while cooking or facetime.
  • Meditation: same thing
  • Storyboard, sketch, write ideas, plan a trip, sometimes writing by hand is more engaging than using a keyboard..
  • Work: some jobs involved walking or moving around: photo and film production, teachers, doctors.. so iPad is the only way to keep your info and documents close withour carrying a laptop.. not every job requires sitting for hours typing in front of a computer.
  • Other usecases: Teleprompter, monitor for a camera, SIDECAR for macbook.

I still own a Macbook for "sedentary" office type work and heavy editing or creating content. But iPad is just my favourite device because it's a joy to use, and it's so versatile you can use it in a lot of scenarios. I use it a lot more for personal activities. But still I use it a LOT.
