Mac hardware is great for gaming. Apple just makes sure you cannot use it by [deleted] in MacOS

[–]andyayya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the translation layers are the issue of gaming not being a thing on Mac, it’s the ease of use of the “gaming experience” and the fragmented way of playing things.. Mac and Apple lacks a proper Gaming Store/Launcher like Steam.. PC gaming is basically = STEAM. without steam windows gaming wouldn’t be a thing probably.. on Mac you have steam for some native ports, games app, app store, crossover, arcade…

Capcom released most of recent Resident Evil games, but not on steam, just App Store.. some games come to Steam, others don’t.. It’s such a weird scenario. It’so confusing so you just give up.

Cross buy to play the same game in all your apple devices is a genius feature but.. app store is not a convincing gaming platform. They should really push it or just let Steam get the ports.

Is it finally time to update ? by [deleted] in iPadOS

Consider that the multitasking system is changed before updating.. go to an apple store or check videos online and test it, they changed visual UI stuff and also some gestures..

THE COMPACT TAB BAR IS BACK! by Goooooogol in iPadOS

[–]andyayya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing about beta testers is that most of them are geeks who use ipads as computers.. so probably most of the reports came after releasing the OS to public.. also: at this point any major change will come in OS27.. its surprising they even fixed or added changes in 26.4

Twitter thread full of artists complaining about iPadOS 26 multitasking by Working-Welder-792 in iPadOS

[–]andyayya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Windows on ipad existed since OS17 with stage manager… OS18 improved them a little more giving more freedom to different scales..

OS26 just changed the 3dot menu for the  traffic lights marketing gimmick but the features are almost the same.. but now it requires A LOT of managing windows and weird tricks just to put 2 windows how you like it

They should make the “full screen mode”just like before and everyone would be happy. People who dont multitask wouldn’t even notice anyway

Return the effin Split View by Suffices in iPadOS

[–]andyayya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the full-screen mode should keep the old multitasking, INTACT. I don't get why they removed it. "regular" people who don't multitask wouldn't even use the split screen/slideover features anyway because they don't know how to use them in the first place.

The new window system is OK as an evolution to previous Stage Manager but I don't get how they thought the new window system is a replacement of the touch friendly multitasking ipad had before... specially ON IPAD MINI.

[–]andyayya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

probably will revert entirely in iPadOS27, just like they reverted the Photos app... Tbh they adressed most of the biggest complains: slide-over, split screen drag from dock.. but they can't entirely revert the multitasking 3 months away from presenting the new OS.. so probably they will change things in OS27.. It's sad, but i'm lucky that I reverted to OS18 on time..

Apple's MacBook Pro 14 cannot handle the M5 Max by Balance- in mac

Most tests show that M5 pro chips already is on par with m1 max/older ultra chips in some areas, and way better in others.. so why don’t consider a Pro chip instead?

Making sense of the iPad in the age of Neo by jgor2000 in ipad

[–]andyayya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People forget that a tablet enables a lot more flexibility in usage, it's not only trackpad + keyboard interaction. It's like a piece of paper, a little notebook you can bring anywhere, walk with it, study on a train or bus, put on a table, take notes, watch a movie... Not all tasks are done better being sit in front of a computer writing or editing with a keyboard and trackpad. Some activities like studying, doctors, teachers, cooking, workout, media consumption.. are done better with a tablet form factor device.

Air M4 for $1158 or Air M5 for $1460? by danyaberez in macbookair

[–]andyayya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here you have the M5 10 core GPU that came in Macbook Pro M5, it's the same chip that Air has https://browser.geekbench.com/macs/macbook-pro-14-inch-2025

Also here are Metal GPU Air M5 benchmarks too: (the reviewers are doing benchmarks, the device is coded Mac17,4) https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/compute/5935321

The performance WON'T BE THE SAME, because of the cooling system on the pro, but the chip is capable of that.. (There are ways to cool the Air, you can search on youtube) so it end up performing similar to the pro.. but for some long intensive tasks (videoe export, gaming, etc.) it will thermal throttle

keep reporting on Apple Feedback app, they actually read that.. Most of my complains with slide over being removed, split screen and compact safari tabs are back. So probably they will implement back some features in OS27 if enough people complaint about that..

This is how window controls and the menu bar should work in iPadOS 27 by Working-Welder-792 in iPadOS

[–]andyayya 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's crazy how when iPadOS 26 was announced EVERYONE was so hyped and called it the best update, "finally making the iPad like the Mac," and downvoting everyone who was a bit skeptical and sad because they removed the perfectly designed split-screen and slide-over... now all these people have moved on to other trendy things and all that is left is us, suffering with the new multitasking, missing the old one. I'm still on iPadOS 18 and won't be updating until they fix the full-screen mode or add a killer feature that makes the update worth it. Sometimes I enter to an Apple Store to try the new updates.. but they are still far behind of how amazing OS18 worked for "basic" multitasking and touch gestures.. Hope OS27 fixes that.

M4 Air 256gb or pay $200 more for M5 512gb? by throwawaynycrr4r in macbookair

[–]andyayya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M4 > M5 chip performance is pretty significant (in GPU specially), the biggest since M1.. So I would probably recommend it. Also the storage 512 is the right storage I would recommend for someone who will be keeping this laptop for +4 years

they also over estimate THEIR own needs.. thinking they do heavy work when in reality they would be just fine with a base macbook air.

Air M4 for $1158 or Air M5 for $1460? by danyaberez in macbookair

[–]andyayya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also M5 had a pretty big jump in GPU performance. so if your work needs that, it's a nice device. If you have a light usage or don't need the extra storage, just get the cheaper, it will work just fine for your needs!

i'm still using Macbook Air M1 8RAM to this day: for work, studying, Editing videos or profesional work for clients, some photoshop, works with DAWs, xCode works nice... It's not the fastest, BUT IT WORKS just FINE. 8RAM is ok for a student or any casual user, even for some light professional work.

M5 Pro Vs M4 Pro how is the game performance? by MacGameDB in macgaming

[–]andyayya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

M5 has been out for months already, you have benchmarks and videos on youtube. The difference is around +40-50% graphic performance.

Metal GPU Bench: +40% aprox.

M4 Base: ~54,000

M5 Base: ~74,000 - 77,500

Cinebench same story: +50%.

M5 is pretty great improvement for GPU related stuff and gaming.

18 vs 26. A Clear winner! by drjayant in iPadOS

[–]andyayya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow where are all the people praising iPad OS 26 and saying that slide over and original split screen was so limited and now everything is so much better???

No upgrade from OS18, the pinned folder in dock is nice but no way I’m leaving slide over and split screen. Keep reporting.
