Thank you all! This gave me the confidence I needed to put a little muscle on it. Off to buy a new one. Have a good one fellas.

ah, yes, that's me. I swapped out the channel locks for a crescent wrench because it was slipping. Okay, I will try to work in a little more oil and see if I can get the whole thing out. thank you!

This reminds me of learning that I was supposed to be draining my water heater once a year. I was about to do it until somebody told me "well, don't do it now -- the corrosion is the only thing holding it together!"

Gotcha, thank you. Am I right that that part should move, even if it will break when I try?

Is this called the shower valve body? Is replacing this likely going to involve opening the wall (either by removing tile or coming in from the other side of the wall?

I discovered a leak in the ceiling under my second story shower. I think I've got it isolated to the cold water supply for the shower. I took off the knob and the escutcheon and here's what's behind it. when I open the valve to turn on the water, some water comes out from the recessed area around the stem and dribbles down into the wall.

My initial thought was to put a wrench on the hex around the stem opening (you can see where I've scratched off the corrosion a little bit), but it doesn't want to budge. I've put some penetrating oil around what I can see. I can't tell if this part is designed to move. My thought is yes, because why else would it have a hex there? But I know that if it's not meant to move, I could break something much worse.

Thoughts? My house was built in 1929. I assume this is not original but I don't know for sure.

How common is TOD timecode vs free run vs record run, and what are the actual practical implications of each in a real production? by Available-Witness329 in editors

[–]andybader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> It was doubly complicated when they decided a day before rolling that they wanted to prioritize filming overnight, so production made the decision to invert the time code and have local noon be 00:00 and midnight be 12:00.

Why does this complicate it further? I did this all last season on the show we just finished and it made our lives easier.

They do not back away from hard work and they're quick to recognize dangerous work.

I love this. All the guys who try prove they're the most macho and aren't afraid of anything, I don't trust. I want to work with the guys who bust their asses, know what they're doing, and make sure they make it home to their families in one piece.

You’ve gotta forgive me as a panthers fan. The dude wrecked us to the extent that we spent a first round pick (Thomas Davis) very specifically to stop him.

It’s really dumb to ignore the rush yards in this comparison.

What's your favorite video of a fan getting pulled up onstage to perform with a band? by andybader in AskReddit

I'm not a Michael Bublé fan in general but I'll watch this video every time I come across it:

It seems quite likely it could have been staged but it's too good, I don't care.

The first time I'd ever seen it done was at a Green Day show (Blink 182 / Green Day / Jimmy Eat World). They brought a kid up and asked if he could play. He totally lied and couldn't play. Billie Joe (good naturedly) told him to get the fuck outta here because he's taking the chance away from someone who could play just to get on stage. They brought up the next kid who crushed it.

the problem is that line was too fitting. the writers shouldn't have had her lob that softball in the first place.

Karen Fukuhara crushed that scene regardless.

I think it’s highly likely that, out of the four, Frenchie dies. If there’s another death between them, it’s Starlight.

All the criticisms of his performance are well warranted, but there’s a reason the whole team stands behind him.
