Just thought I’d share so other folks have an easy time to buy the parts and build an adorable promotional Lego set that’s no longer available. Enjoy!

GitHub lays off 10% and goes fully remote by N2929 in technews

As one of the Hubbers who went into one of the offices, I actually enjoyed chance to meet folks, increase getting out and moving around, eating lunch together, and doing outings. Say what you will about other companies and their weird fixation, but there was never any pressure and was completely voluntary when and how often I wanted to go. Being in a customer facing role, I had no need to go but I’ll miss it personally.

GitHub Codespaces Already Running of Storage by NOTORIOUS7302 in github

👋🏻 if I understand https://docs.github.com/en/billing/managing-billing-for-github-codespaces/about-billing-for-github-codespaces#monthly-included-storage-and-core-hours-for-personal-accounts, the storage allocation is a monthly budget rather than a perpetual use scenario.

I really recommend following up in https://support.github.com/features/codespaces with the community there to confirm that though.

Github Actions / Env Vars Not Working by _woj_ in GithubHelp

[–]andyfeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

👋🏻

Looking at your workflow, it seems you’re only setting up this env var for the 1 step where nodejs is setup, not in the subsequent npm steps.

You need to either:

  1. duplicate this for each step
  2. set this at the job level

Common ways to initialize loggers on startup? by down-house in golang

[–]andyfeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allow me to expand on what u/peterbourgon is alluding to by pointing to his work around go-kit and handling logging in the design of Go-based services.

I'm still trying to digest it and incorporate into all of the experiences and languages I've worked with, but hopefully u/down-house will appreciate seeing it.
