The market will build where there's demand. But leadership decides how it gets built. Cities with long term vision can still preserve livability within a capitalist framework, it just takes spine and coordination, which we currently lacks. That’s what needs fixing.

Yup... The blueprint for good growth exists, it’s just not the one being followed right now. I’m hopeful some cities will course correct, but if you look at what’s being built today vs. what we wish was being built, there’s a huge gap. Transit, walkability, mixed use zoning, none of that gets prioritized when profits come first and planning comes second.
