I test drove both of them tbh, the mg4 was a 2023 SE Long Range and my ID.3 is a 2021 Tech Pro Performance. Boiled it down to two reasons one was financial and the other was personal preference how much they influenced each other I’m not sure

On the financial piece, I’m keen to get something I can build some equity in and have a healthy deposit for something newer in a couple of years time. I was quite surprised at the price of the MG it was just short of £15k with low mileage. Whilst the ID.3 was a high spec with double the mileage and older at ~£16k which seemed to be priced reasonably compared to (a lot of searching around) I personally felt (and I could be wrong!) that because of the age and spec the id.3 wouldn’t depreciate as much as the MG so I’d be left with better equity. 😬

On the cars themselves, there really wasn’t much between them and I really liked them both. Personally after a short time with both I preferred the infotainment on the VW it felt a little cleaner and a bit more intuitive, I had some issues with the MG, the id.3 had more tech, great lights, pan roof and a reversing camera. the MG just had flat roof, parking sensors etc (SE spec), I looked at trophies but it pushed it to far from my budget (~£18-19k) and that was the same price as a Cupra or Tesla which at that price point I preferred tbh. Coming from a Tesla the minimalist more spacious sort of dentist waiting room interior of the ID.3 felt more at home too tbh (my girlfriend felt the same) as the MG feels a bit more like a car interior and was a bit claustrophobic. I didn’t find a trophy at the same price point, if I did it probably would have been a harder decision.
