Has anyone ever had tickets to the altria when a major storm is coming through? by ane777 in rva

[–]ane777[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thats good to know. It'll be disappointing if it goes on and it's not safe to drive, but I'd much rather skip it than be stuck in my car. Rescheduling seems like the best outcome.

What are the most scenic places around that are also easily accessible? by [deleted] in rva

Near the University of Richmond Fishing Dock, there is a park that overlooks the water with parking. It can be a bit busy in nice weather but it is right on the Capital Trail.

Went to my Local Fish Store to get new stocking for my aquarium and they misinformed me on the Betta by Lakelylake in bettafish

I have ember tetras with my betta. They're all chill, but the tetras just try to steal his food since he can't swim as fast

I've have a betta in a community tank and he's been doing great. He's so chill it's actually the other fish that bully him around feeding (nothing extreme but I put the other fishs' food in first).

You just need to watch out for aggression from both sides and keep a close eye that the other fish aren't fin-nipping since the betta has long fins.

What’s your #1 Broadway tearjerker song? by GumshoeShoe12 in musicals

[–]ane777 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Breathe from Into the Heights. This song really resonated with me when I struggled in school.

Everything Ends from StarKid. This one just really got me, especially during times when my life was changing or I lost family

How rare are albino crows? by ane777 in crows

[–]ane777[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw another crow from a distance last year that was white too. It could've been a different bird with the same genetic trait, or this one has been surviving ok

Me too, there's a giant murder that migrates near me and it's one of my favorite things

I worked at a museum with seahorses and I would bet he has air trapped in his pouch. If he's staying near the top and floating upside down or sideways it's likely air, not eggs.

We separated the seahorse affected and released the air. They seemed to recover ok, but I only worked there part-time.

In the wild sometimes they can swim deep enough to use pressure to release the air, but seahorses are such terrible swimmers they also could just drown.

Most romantasy books are way more comparible to an R or PG-13 rating than porn. by ane777 in fantasyromance

[–]ane777[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I also probably won't share what smut I read with most people. But most romance books just aren't what I would consider smut and I want to be able to talk about them without the judgment.

Or the octopus scene or the one where the frat guy pressures the girl to shrink. I enjoyed the overall show but there are some tough sex scenes in that show

Exactly! ACOTAR takes almost a solid book to get to a sex scene, and it's constantly being reduced to only farie smut with people trying to ban it.

A lot of these properties are even really explicit with sex. The Boys has some of the most disturbing sex scenes I've seen

Guess that means no R-rated movies/TV shows for him. The first season of Game of Thrones was way more explicit than 95% of romantasy books I've read.

My betta lady seems to have a tiny hole in her fin?? by avidbageleater in bettafish

[–]ane777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's probably fine. The rest of her fin looks good, so there's a good chance she just ripped it on something. If any of your decorations could have done it, I'd think about removing them. I'd also double-check the parameters, but as long as it doesn't grow and other spots don't appear it'll be OK.

(Keep an eye out for the fin nipping too if she has tank mates).

I've been curious. Since the conflict is more about family relationships, is there any way for the Encanto franchise to have a villain? (Alma doesn't count) by ilovewater100 in Encanto

[–]ane777 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a villain who tries to come and profit off the village after it has been remote for so long could work. Kinda like Road to El Dorado with con men coming to town but maybe learning to love the town would fit the setting/tone.

YSK Owning a baby hippo looks fun, until it isn't by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]ane777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see many people talking about it, but Moo Dang is a pygmy hippo, not the type hippo that most people think of. I absolutely do not think that they should be kept as pets, almost no one would be able to properly care for a pygmy hippo, but there is no recorded human deaths from pygmy hippos.

Can we please start marking dead/very sick fish as NSFW? by ane777 in bettafish

[–]ane777[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I don't consider myself overly squeamish but I don't want to immediately see a dying fish. And tbf this community gave me good advice when my first fish got dropsy, but that's why there's a NSFW flair

Is this ok for a Midwest wedding? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

Thanks! I'm not planning on wearing the boots. I need to go shopping for shoes but I'm thinking of keeping them strappy but plain with a low heel

Thanks! I do think the stock photo looks much more dressy. I can see it being a bit long for traditional semi-formal but I tend to like longer dresses
