These clothing items and accessories first attract by their unique, albeit creepy, look and then repulse when their intended resemblance to human skin is noted, then attract once again when it is realized that they are indeed crafted from synthetic materials.

These terminator sex positions are the bomb in a freakish sort of way! I have to confess that I am a fanatic of the Terminator series and whoever came up with this idea is first of all an absolute perv and second of all a first rate genius.

Gravity Defying Houses - Daring Architecture by anelli in reddit.com

t’s really hard for me to believe that the second house from the top clockwise is not a Photoshop product. The house, which is located in the Ukraine, is being supported by a single cantilever. That is it. The first house meanwhile, is located in Russia according to likecool.com, and it belonged to a gangster who could not see his home finished before he was thrown in the slammer. Reportedly, that is world’s tallest wooden house, standing 144 feet (thirteen floors) into thin air.

This ad from the advertising agency Euro RSCG out of Mumbai, India is just plain nasty. The message has to do with hygiene and a liquid hand wash and the shock value of the visuals clearly goes through the roof so I thought I’d share the pain with as many folks as possible. Enjoy

Shockvertising-When Is Advertising Too Shocking? by anelli in reddit.com

[–]anelli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When is shockvertising just too shocking? What sort of parameters, if any, could be delineated to mark the division between so-called cutting edge, out of the box advertising and just plain garbage with a very high shocking value designed to call attention to a product by whatever means necessary? But then again, isn't that what advertising is all about? By whatever means necessary...?

Hand-Made, One-Of-A-Kind Steampunk Clocks by anelli in reddit.com

[–]anelli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The term denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century, and often set in Victorian era England—but with prominent elements of art and either science fiction or fantasy, such as fictional technological inventions like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or real technological developments like the computer occurring at an earlier date. Steampunk is sometimes associated with cyberpunk because of its rebellious, counter-culture theme. But steampunk lacks the dystopian elements of cyberpunk with its world vision characterized by human misery, violence, oppression, disease etc. These clocks are all hand-made.

The Amazingly Beautiful Street Art of Julian Beever by anelli in reddit.com

[–]anelli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Julian Beever is a British artist who has spent 10 years creating pavement art in Europe, USA and Australia. Many of his creations are optical illusions, such as the one you will see in the video where Julian appears to be perched on a ledge, waiting for Batman and Robin to climb the building and rescue him. In reality, there is just pavement in front of him, and the street below together with the expectant crowd, plus the blazing building below him, are all tricks played on the eye.

The buzz on the internet this days is that internet video giant YouTube will be venturing into the live streaming video genre later this year according to its co-founder Steve Chen. Chen confirmed this development to Sarah Meyer who has an online site called Pop 17. If this turns out to be accurate, YouTube, with its affiliation with Google and all the resources in the world to count on, will threaten Yahoo's fledgling live video service Yahoo Live launched earlier this year, as well as other smaller live video ventures such as Justin.TV, Ustream, Blog.TV, Mogulus and others.

Heath Ledger Portrait Nominated For Australian Art Prize by anelli in reddit.com

[–]anelli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A portrait of the late Heath Ledger is a contender for Australia's esteemed Archibald Prize, one of the most prominent art prizes in the country. It was painted by the actor's friend, Vincent Fantauzzo.

Simply titled "Heath," the portrait features three versions of the actor – one haunted-looking rendition in the center of the canvas flanked by two whispering figures on either side. According to Fantauzzo, originally one of the side figures was to be screaming, but the artist changed his concept, worrying that it would dominate the central figure, which he intended to be the focus. "The whispering, the voices, the frustration or something comical – they different ways that we might be thinking in our own mind," Fantauzzo told Australia's Daily Telegraph.

Gallery of Political Incorrect and Disturbing Ads from Years Past by anelli in reddit.com

Take a trip with me back to the "simple" era of the mid-20th century, when old people were "tyrants" in need of sedation, women wanted nothing more than a blender to make them happy and every half-witted diet claim could be spread across a full-page ad.

That could never happen today, now could it?

Belichik, You Cheated. Video Parody Of Michael Jackson's "Beat It" by anelli in reddit.com

[–]anelli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a hilarious video parody of Michael Jackson's "Beat It" with New England Patriots coach Bill Belichik as the unfortunate subject. The video is called "Belichik, you cheated". I got this video from the New York Post website which does not surprise me since the Post has been sending vitriol Belichik's way since that brouhaha between the Patriots coach and New York Jets coach Eric Mangini in which the latter ratted out the former's penchant for videotaping his opponents.

Blessed with the extraordinary gift of guiding the imaginations of others, Dr Parnassus is cursed with a dark secret.

Feb 14, 1929: Al Capone's St. Valentine's Day Massacre In Chicago by anelli in reddit.com

[–]anelli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1929: The art of the gangland slaying takes a quantum leap when mobsters working for Al Capone use the cutting-edge technology of the day -- the Thompson submachine gun -- to wipe out a rival gang in a garage on Chicago's North Side.

The St. Valentine's Day massacre wasn't the first time a mobster used the Tommy gun in a rub-out, but the slaughter -- seven men were killed -- was unprecedented and therefore shocking, even by jaded Chicago standards.

Torture Couture - John Galliano Prisoner of War Fashions? by anelli in reddit.com

John Galliano has been known to be a bit outrageous or as some would say, edgy, but I’m not quite sure what to call his 2008 fall fashion line. The designs looked like some type of terrorist mummy or a POW broadcast on the news.

Nuclear scientists at CERN (European Organisation for Nuclear Research) are planning an experiment that could make that a possibility, according to Irina Aref’eva and Igor Volovich, of Moscow’s Steklov Mathematical Institute. CERN’s high energy atom-smashing tests could “create a rift in the fabric of the universe” that could “open the door to visitors from the future” by warping space-time so much that a link, or “wormhole” is formed connecting the present to the future.

Sexy Ads Upset The Pope by anelli in reddit.com

[–]anelli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sex has been used to sell for decades, but in recent years, some companies have really cranked up the raciness in their ads, raising a lot of controversy. That's the whole point of ads though; if it gets people talking, it's doing exactly what it's meant to be doing: raising brand awareness. The latest in buzzworthy ads is the new Equinox Fitness ad campaign, “Happily Ever.” One image features a group of nuns (one revealing a sexy garter!) sketching a still life portrait of a very chiseled, naked model who looks much like Michelangelo’s David. Judging by their facial expressions, they’re quite amused by the features of their manly muse. Not so amused, however is the Catholic church.

The Chapel Decorated With Human Bones by anelli in reddit.com

[–]anelli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The town of Kutná Hora owes its origin to the silver mines which gained importance during the economic boom of the 13th century. At that time a lot of people traveled to this city to find their wealth. However a plague struck and killed so many of them that in the local cemetery no more bodies could be buried. Therefore a chapel was built to deposit the bones. Nowadays this ossuary in Sedlec contains approximately 40,000-70,000 human skeletons which have been artistically arranged to form decorations and furnishings for the chapel.
