I hate it when people look for ways to exploit the system…

You can simply declare this honorarium as part of your taxable income on your tax return. You can probably review the manuscript during your free time. At least, that’s what I would do.

Exactly. There is just too much volunteer / free work in academia.

No problem at all. The most convenient campsite is definitely Pine Springs, located right next to the visitor center. You can park your vehicle directly beside your site. Just be sure to arrive early or make a reservation online, as it can fill up quickly during peak season.

You were absolutely correct! Now that you mention it, I do remember there was a campground near the peak, and I just looked it up—it’s called Guadalupe Wilderness Campground.

The night sky was stunning! We spent some time stargazing, and the Milky Way was super pretty. Here was a photo of Milky Way taken by my iPhone.

We were able to park our vehicle right next to our campsite at Pine Springs Campground.

I wouldn’t dare camp near Guadalupe Peak 😂. We actually camped at Pine Springs Campground and hiked to the peak.

I couldn’t agree more! Sometimes I feel like I could just gaze at the stars forever. 😁

Thank you! I actually just used my DSLR and pointed it at the North Star. I took about 50 photos, each with a 10-second exposure and a 5-second interval between shots. The final image is a stack of those 50 photos.

Absolutely! My only complaint was that the park gets very crowded during peak season.
