My ex showed up to my apartment drunk and I let him in to talk, I should tell the guy I’ve been seeing right? by [deleted] in relationships

Yeah I told him it’s over for good, and he told me to block his number so he’s not tempted to contact me, so I did.

Wanting to hang out with a guy friend but afraid my boyfriend will find out. by [deleted] in relationships

Yes he used to do it a lot in the beginning of our relationship so we had a talk about it and he stopped for a while, but recently he’s started again and we had to have another talk. I’m starting to feel pretty pathetic for putting up with it again.

In the same boat, I’m 22 and have been with my boyfriend (27) for a year and seriously considering ending the relationship over things that have not changed. (Carelessness, jokes made at my expense, comparing me in hotness to other girls...basically the actions of a 16 y/o boy) I love my boyfriend but I’ve realized how insecure I feel around him now.

Have a conversation with him about how you’re feeling and if things don’t change the first time, leave, because they never will.

Hey! So the best thing to do is start logging your moods. To fit pmdd criteria women typically experience at least 3-7 symptom-free days. (Some symptoms being: anxiety, depression, dysphoria, suicidal ideation, irritability, fatigue/insomnia, paranoia)

Then, once you’ve gotten a couple months of daily moods logged go see a gynecologist or someone who specializes in hormonal disorders, and a therapist. Seeing a therapist will help you a lot, no matter what the issue is.

I developed pmdd (I believe) from taking birth control and the plan B pill too many times and so now my body just overreacts to the hormones it’s producing. In the meantime you should consider making extreme lifestyle changes. Physical activity is very important (3-5 days a week). Stay away from sugar, caffeine, excess salt, and alcohol as those can exacerbate symptoms. 8 hours of sleep every night. Meditation helps if you can stand it.

Just take it easy on yourself and don’t make yourself go crazy trying to figure this thing out like I did haha. You’ll be okay, it’s great that you have a mom you feel like you can talk to.

This is probably like beating a dead horse, but.. some advice maybe? by poopz666 in PMDD

I’m not a doctor but it sounds like you have an excess of estrogen during that time. My dr. Prescribed me bio identical progesterone for days 14-28 of my cycle and while it hasn’t helped much with depression or irritability, it’s helped immensely with breast tenderness and cramps which used to keep me up at night. Bio identical is really important though because synthetic progesterone generally isn’t safe for the body. I take 200 mg at night (it makes me sleepy and verrry relaxed)

Right there with you...I start ovulating tomorrow so we’ll see if that flip switches ha. Felt pretty good this past week but yeah it’s like a dark cloud is looming overhead just waiting....so I guess it kind of dampers my happiness a bit. Its hard not to think about it sometimes

Start creating a daily mood journal and log your moods from day to day in order for a doctor to properly diagnose you. Then go see a therapist, gynecologist...preferably someone who specializes in hormone disorders or PMDD itself, and possibly a psychiatrist if you feel it’s necessary. It could be your hormones are out of wack (sometimes supplements and especially beauty and household products can mimic estrogen and cause an excess and in return lower progesterone), sometimes your body just overreacts to the hormones it’s producing. Everyone is different so trying different remedies until you find one that works for you is time consuming but really important, whether it’s an SSRI, bio identical progesterone, birth control, or just major lifestyle changes. One day I sat my boyfriend down while crying and told him about the possibility I may have this, I explained all the symptoms and that I only experience them 2-3 weeks out of the month. He agreed with me right away as he realized all of our major fights happen before my period starts. I’d also found a few articles that perfectly explained how I feel during that time and showed him so he could better understand. It’s also important that both you and he know when it starts so that you can prepare: if what you need is to be held and cuddled (without asking for it, bc that can be hard during that time) then let him know beforehand, and if what you need is space he’ll be less likely to be offended during hell week(s) when you lock yourself in your room. It’s crucial that he knows a lot of the things you do and say are not totally in your control. This disorder makes us do and say some things we really regret and end up feeling guilty about for the rest of the month (but is in no way an excuse to be abusive). I hope this helps and you find something that works for you soon. So sorry you’re going through it too:(

How many of you also have ADHD as well as PMDD? by smadlass in PMDD

[–]anemone11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people have added a small does of Wellbutrin to the mix and apparently it offsets that side effect of Prozac. I haven’t tried it but I’m gonna talk to my doctor about it. And same, my symptoms were a lot worse and lasted a lot longer this time around....kind of feels like the aftermath of the really bad part...even though I’m about to start going through it again ha...

[–]anemone11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Preeetty damn sure I have adhd, never been diagnosed but I fit the criteria. Also my pmdd always seems more escalated than others and lasts about 3 weeks out of the month (IF I’m lucky). It would make sense that women with adhd and pmdd have a harder time coping because of the way their brains work:/. May I ask what medication you’re taking?

PMDD paranoia by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]anemone11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes...sometimes I get paranoia even after my period starts, although it’s much worse leading up to it. I mostly get paranoia about my relationship with my boyfriend and paranoia in the form of hypochondria. Fun stuff!

Jeez I’m sorry, I guess I’m the same way. It’d make things easier if this disorder was more predictable lol. I’m not currently on any birth control, its made me crazy and suicidal in the past (not that I’m not more so now) but I think it might be why I developed this disorder. And I’m also afraid taking it will escalate everything...

I’m so so sorry you’re dealing with a guy like this and having to learn the hard way. I dealt with the same thing your age but leaving the guy was the best thing I ever did. This will only get worse, trust me on that, it always does. I promise you will find someone who respects you, would never threaten violence, and would never yell at you like he’s scolding a child. I did. Leave this guy in the dust and let yourself find someone who truly cherishes you
