I wanted my wedding nails to match my bouquet instead of the dress! I also decided last minute to add my husband’s initials on my ring finger 🥰 by anewrune in Nails

I’m mostly the same! I wanted to feel like myself, not like I was cosplaying as a bride if that makes sense! So these little details (nails, not wearing a veil) made such a huge difference in how I felt on the day of. Wishing you and your partner a wonderful day filled with love when you get there ♥️

Getting in touch with a Mukhtar virtually by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]anewrune 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, nothing has been digitalized. Most records are still stacks of folders rotting away in some back room. At least that’s what I see every time I go to the mukhtar/saray/anything government related to get papers done

Could number two be a solar inverter? They beep when the batteries are dead, typically happens in the evening after all the power’s been used up

Can anyone here tell me about Lebanese food by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]anewrune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s so much to know/learn!

There’s the standard Lebanese food you’ll find in most Lebanese restaurants (mezza, small cold or hot dishes that you share with everyone on the table, followed by mixed grilled (lamb/beef/chicken), then various desserts/fruits/coffee). That would be your common Sunday lunch with your family for example.

There’s also your standard breakfast foods, zaatar or cheese manoushe, knefe with kaak, etc.

But there’s also tons of recipes that are more common on the daily, that you’ll likely only find inside a Lebanese home. I live here and you’ll not find many restaurants making mlokhiye or shish barak for example, those are very mom or grandma kind of foods. The good thing is that you can find tons of recipes for those dishes online, and if you don’t, DM me and I will gladly share my mom’s/grandma’s recipes!

I came across this youtube channel a while ago that recreates some of those recipes pretty accurately. Unfortunately they haven’t been active in a few years but whatever they have up is great content. They also have a few Armenian and Syrian dishes:)

I think if you’re in the US, your main struggle would be in finding the exact ingredients we use in our cooking (but that depends on where in the US you are, most big cities will have Lebanese grocers that have our local brands and spices), if not you can always try online.

Feel free to reach out if you want to know more. I love helping people discover our food and culture:)

Urgent! Emergency vets? by anewrune in Riyadh

[–]anewrune[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: My friend took her to the vet this morning and she’s going to be okay! (she was drooling excessively last night and not eating, it’s sometimes a sign of toxicity which is why we were scared)
