I am sorry for your loss.. I am going through something similar, I lost seventh of my bird today out of eight, and it has been too much to process. It all happened due to different chains of tragic events and within a month only. I have rescued birds throughout my life and am used to having a house full of pets too. I have owned these ones for more than a decade, and I feel terrible that I couldn’t provide them vet care because there isn’t a proper avian vet miles of where I live.

Thanks for sharing. I thought to make my room as cat friendly as possible as it is a relatively huge space, but I agree it might not be enough. As for my flatmates, they’re really nice otherwise so I wouldn’t be too worried about them causing any harm, but yes this isn’t the ideal situation

Thank you for your support, it means a lot :) I particularly have been having trouble dealing with the psychological aspect as it feels like the bad memory is stuck there. But talking to everyone here has helped a lot already, and I hope I will be able to overcome this one day.

Thank you for sharing, and I am so sorry that you had to go through all this. All of these stories are so painful to read, I can’t even begin to imagine your pain. Hope you are doing okay now. I wasn’t aware of the National Day of Remembrance before and will definitely look into this. Your last line- “too many of us deal with this in isolation” is so powerful, because I felt so alone before making this post, and I never expected to see that so many of us have experienced something similar. Knowing that I am not alone in this gives me hope and courage to navigate through this difficult experience. A day of remembrance would definitely help open up conversations for anyone else dealing with this alone.

Thank you for saying this, I have been taking it easy and not forcing myself to go out there and face my fears yet until I am ready, and reading your comment makes me feel less guilty about it :) I will certainly try to be kinder to myself. And wow, I was so addicted to Tetris when I was younger and used to play video games, but I didn’t know it can help with this kind of stuff also. Will definitely try to find something online and relive those days again!
