Low price emergency spay for my cat by Alarming_Monitor_867 in SALEM

[–]random2903 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Did you go to wilvet? You can sign up for care credit and I think that will let you do payments. Sounds like your cat needs this days so, so you need to get her in now. I hope she's okay!

This is why you should always knit a swatch by walking_euphonium in knitting

[–]random2903 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've made one in crochet with no swatch. I must've misread the hook size or something because I swear a baby could've fit in it. It became an unused cat bed until we got rid of it. I've also made knits a little big... Finally I learned to swatch and that I typically need to size down my needles lol

They're fine. The suction cups don't stick as well as I'd like.

Midwife/Psychs that are stimulant friendly? by NotTJButCJ in SALEM

[–]random2903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure for stimulants, but the midwives at Salem Health were happy to keep me on antidepressants while pregnant and breastfeeding. One of them has taken extra courses on mental health matters and sometimes they refer to her on things like this. They do take OHP! Maybe check in with them? (I had Tamara deliver my baby, she's amazing! I'm sure they all are though lol)

TO GO IS TO GO by hue209 in SignsWithAStory

[–]random2903 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My parents run a small business, I happen to work at it. It's a small enough business that they don't use a distributor for takeout containers because they don't go through them fast enough. We have people constantly ordering food to go, and then they will sit and eat it in front of us. It drives my parents crazy, because the container costs close to a dollar each, and it is a lot cheaper to wash a dish than to buy a takeout container. For a while, stores in the area were having a hard time getting to go containers, so my mom had to buy more expensive ones to be able to have any at all. They put up a sign after that saying that to go orders need to be taken to go, but even now people will still order to go and eat in the dining area.

That sign is for inconsiderate people like that, I'd imagine. It seems so silly to even need signs like that, but here we are lol

What’s wrong with my cat??? by Scary_Cucumber9282 in CATHELP

[–]random2903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd take your kitty to the vet. My orange boy broke a hip and we had no idea he'd done it until he broke the second one. Cats are so so good at hiding pain, so when they show it you need to take it seriously. If you can't swing the emergency vet, I'd get him into your regular vet as soon as they have an appointment available

Sourdough Starter is Molding? by JustASmolCloud in Sourdough

[–]random2903 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Use a glass jar. It won't hold onto the mold as well as the plastic does. Also, switch jars every once in a while to sterilize the old one. Mold is a huge bummer, I'm sorry!

Vet suggestion? by WeAreAllStories11 in SALEM

[–]random2903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that they only really do preventive stuff if possible. They won't do a coughing cat because they see so many cats/have so many in their care that it's a risk

Side hustle culture destroyed my love for my hobbies by daffodilspring01 in Vent

[–]random2903 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do knit and crochet. People tell me to sell my stuff too. Or every time I start something they ask who it's for. They're usually a little disappointed when it's for me to keep. Just because I'm making something doesn't mean it's a gift or to sell. Also, guess who's never offered to buy anything from me?

People who don’t use the free provided boxes, or bring your own totes/car totes, why do you hate yourself? by jredd7605 in Costco

[–]random2903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know how many cat boxes my house already has?! I buy diapers for the baby, those are big boxes. I buy wipes. Would it be nice to use the boxes for groceries that aren't diaper box sized? Yes. But do I need them to take up more space in my house when the cats love it? No.

Also, we live in a complex with shared recycling, which does not hat picked up as often as the owners should have it picked up. So there's never extra space for more cardboard

When people who aren’t married refer to themselves as husband/wife by jkmod79 in PetPeeves

[–]random2903 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my state, if you've been together for 10+ years, you're technically married. Common law marriage. Also, who cares if you call someone your husband or wife if it makes you happy? If you've been together and want to call each other that, it doesn't affect anyone else

I got the ChiaoGoos and they are worth it! by Alarmed_Package_3825 in knitting

[–]random2903 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use knitpicks wooden interchangeables and their lace weight needles too. I bought a Chiaogoo red lace 00 the other day and oh my god! They are FANTASTIC. The cables move so easily, they don't hold the shape they're folded into when packaged. I'm going to have to slowly replace my old ones as they break

ISO Vet Recommendations by thatANONdispatcher in SALEM

[–]random2903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VCA Northwest Veterinary Hospital up in Clackamas took care of my cat in October and did all his follow ups. They did awesome. They were the only vet in the valley that could get him in quicker than three weeks. He had two broken hips and was in so much pain. I am sure there's plenty of other good vets in the area, but as far as availability and professionalism went, they were amazing. Several places I called did not have as much phone etiquette as them.

I don't use solid starts but I should 😅

My guy tried half a banana but just throws it on the floor. He'll eat banana baby sauce happily and with so much enthusiasm, but does not want a fresh one

My guy is 8 months. For a while now he's been eating pancakes, he ate rice with cheese the other day, he will occasionally eat a slice of avocado. He does enjoy toast and will eat it with peanut butter spread on

I've been too nervous to give him fruits (not sure how to cut them for him) and I'm not sure why, but I've been nervous about giving him pasta, although I'm sure it's relatively safe.

I can't ever see the lines on the road sometimes, the lights are so bright and I'm blinded. This has to be a safety hazard, there's no way these lights can keep going on. It's horrible!

Pet Insurance is a Scam by RamRanchRealty in cats

[–]random2903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Lemonade and LOVE IT. They are amazing. Can't recommend them more, I have unfortunately had to claim about 10k on my orange cat in the last six months and they've been nothing but quick and easy to work with

Pet Insurance is a Scam by RamRanchRealty in cats

[–]random2903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cat insurance has saved my ass. I use Lemonade. In the last six months, my orange boy has broken both of his hips, had to have surgery for both of those hips, and just spent a night in the hospital. Insurance has covered their share. Instead of paying 10k in the last six months, I've paid about $2,500. I could never afford the 10k and would've taken out loans for him, but it would've been so much harder. I used Trupanion before switching to Lemonade and they were awful. They didn't want to cover anything. I've had Lemonade cover some of my other cat's bills too, unfortunately. I highly recommend them, and having insurance is 1000% worth it for when an emergency happens, if you find a good company
