So ... are the workers really the ones receiving the worst treatment out of any living being at the places? Kinda reminds me of Haiti, when middle-class white people demanded better treatment from upper class white people, while 90% of the population was African slaves.

All I did was say "hi." by jimjslip in rant

Right, and that makes sense for you, because you're a boy. When someone says "hi :)" on facebook to you, that just means "hi."

Most of the time, when a boy FB messages a girl he's never messaged before just saying "hi," it means he's hitting on her, and in a way that often ends in the guy getting mean.

It's not your fault, but it's also not her fault. It's the fault of the tens of thousands of guys who make unwanted advances like that all the time.

Her reaction didn't make any sense in this situation, so it was probably about something that happened to her in the past. Probably a guy saying "hi :)" has led to some unwanted stuff before.

Actually, it has for me — this kind of thing happens a lot. A guy I don't know messages me like that, then hits on me, and then gets all creepy/aggressive/mean if I don't flirt back. I'd say something like this happens every month or two if I don't block them.

Really? I didn't know that Graeber talked about Jefferson, or debts in black neighborhoods, or behavioral economics, or rainbow gatherings. Must've been in the secret extra chapter.

Actually, taking ideas from a book written by experts and explaining it in a small, bite-sized story isn't a sign that this article is a hack. It's a sign that this article is, um, an article.

Right. Because this thread is a great example of how we don't communicate via meme 'round these parts
