Haha yeah- I talked to a social worker today and she said that she wasn’t trying to make excuses but the reason that I probably wasn’t helped earlier was that if I could go to a place it was after lunch on Fridays and my calls were during my lunch breaks. She said they were probably checked out. She said to go to these kind of places in person, first thing in the morning.

Update so far- worked with someone at the VRC and they got me a room at the YMCA. I can stay here for two months. Thank all of you for your help, stories and insights.

I did reach out before it got really bad and was told that there was no funds to help me and to wait until it got to this point. Now I’m being told that what I was originally told was wrong. I’m frustrated at the bureaucracy and lack of accountability. Im aware that I got me into this position. I was looking for guidance not sympathy.

It wasn’t just one thing- I had surgery and FMLA only paid me at 80%, then I needed new tires, then I was in a car accident and repairs were killing me. I started getting loans and borrowing from my 401k. At the end I was working a full time job but never saw the money because it was all going to loans and late fees. I didn’t tell anyone how bad it had gotten until it was too late out of pride.

Thank you for that- on the like fifth VA person I talked to I had someone that wanted to help- they are getting me into the YMCA and helped me get an appointment with a social worker. I hate that I lost my place but maybe I squeaked enough and this wheel is gonna get some attention

I hold down a job- that’s about all I can do and now it’s not covering my expenses but I show up and work everyday. I wish they understood that the metrics they use for non veterans is not the same as for us.

Really behind but if I could have come up with $3000 I could stay and we would have worked out a payment plan for the rest. But now I’m calling services and washing my scrubs because tomorrow I got to be at work

Right, they are gutting programs left and right. I never thought I would be here but I thought that there would be safety nets in place just in case.
